AES Clean Energy (AES CE), a subsidiary of The AES Corporation, specializes in developing, owning, and operating utility scale PV solar projects, distributed generation PV solar projects, PV solar projects combined with battery energy storage systems (BESS), stand-alone battery energy storage projects and wind generation projects. AES Clean Energy (ACE) is seeking an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Inverter Specialist for its Maintenance Support Services team. This role will support the O&M team by aiding the AES Clean Energy Wind, Solar, Battery Storage and Solar + Storage Field Service Teams. The goal of the Maintenance Support Services Team is to reduce the burden on the Field Service teams' auxiliary duties so that they can focus on their safety and maintaining our equipment.

Duties of the O&M Inverter Specialist will include, but is not limited to:

Managing ACE's 3rd party O&M contractors to deliver their work scope obligations - preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and vegetation management - and holding them accountable to deliver those services in a timely and quality manner. Preparing and reviewing 3rd party Operation and Maintenance contracts. Assist in the monitoring of site performance and dispatching both ACE's Field Service Technicians and 3rd party technicians for site corrective maintenance. Monitoring project performance and determining the success of our 3rd party O&M engagements. Collaborating with AES' Performance Engineering team and OEM vendor on vendor design, performance, troubleshooting, and operation details.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to analyze and organize information, develop capabilities, and improve processes. Travel is expected to be periodic, estimated at 10% which may vary based on project needs. Travel may involve visiting project sites, and/or for occasional training, conventions, seminars, or visiting vendors and 3rd party providers, etc.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Promote and support internal and external technicians to conduct their work in a Safety-First manner holding them accountable as needed.
  • Identify and characterize root cause of site underperformance to assist the O&M Engineering team.
  • Become familiar with specific site configurations and assist in optimizing systems for best performance and revenue generation.
  • Lead and manage major special projects involving significant facility repairs and retrofits including, for example, expansive module replacements, inverter retrofits or the application of new technologies in support of performance improvement initiatives.
  • Perform Job Safety Assessments and Safety Walks as appropriate.
  • Track and report on contract compliance obligations.
  • Service report review and appropriation in ACE's document storage system and/or CMMS.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance site performance and reduce Field Service costs (i.e. unwind 3rd party maintenance contracts and replace them with ACE Field Services support).
  • Ad-hoc analysis as requested.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent required, Trade or Undergraduate Technical education preferred.
  • Wind, Solar, and/or Solar + Storage Field Service experience is a strong plus.
  • Electronic Technician or Electrician experience is a strong plus.
  • Experience in contract generation and maintenance.
  • Ability to interpret wind energy and/or solar project blueprint and designs.
  • Familiarity with wind energy and/or solar PV and battery storage design, components, and operation.
  • Experience utilizing CMMS, PMP, and ERP systems is a plus.

  • Strong proficiency with MS Office tools and cloud-based document management systems.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including an ability to maintain calm and effective exchanges with all parties - internal and external.

  • Ability to be flexible with a changing and challenging work schedule.
  • Ability to successfully work remotely and independently, away from an office environment or direct supervision, for extended periods of time.

Job Location & Details:

  • Reports to Maintenance Support Services Team Lead.
  • Role will be remote and in system based out of Salt Lake City, UT or Louisville, CO.
  • Travel is expected to be periodic, estimated at 10%, which may vary depending on project needs.

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $75,000 and $106,250/Annual; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
