IFC's Metals & Mining investment team (CEMMI) is basedin Washington, D.C. as well as in London, a key global mining client andpartners location. The team covers all stages of metals & mining projects(from exploration through to development and production). Investments are madeacross the capital structure including via equity, mezzanine or senior debtinstruments.

The metals & mining industry is important fordevelopment in many of IFC's member countries. Increasingly, undevelopedmineral resources are located in Emerging Markets, and in many cases, in LowIncome Countries. IFC can play a unique role in supporting member countries andclients in helping ensure that the development of these resources takes placein a sustainable manner, balancing appropriately the commercial interests ofclients and the public policy considerations of member governments. IFC does thisthrough the nature of the institution, but also through its relationship withthe World Bank, and its suite of financing and advisory products.

IFC's Metals & Mining investment team is recruiting anInvestment Analyst to work closely with IFC's Investment Officers and CEMMIsector specialists. The Investment Analyst will help to: (i) develop newbusiness, execute transactions, and monitor portfolio investments across theglobe; (ii) manage key mining global client relationships; and (iii) contributeto knowledge dissemination via management of sector benchmarks, research ofindustry trends, and IFC lessons of experience in the sector. The position willbe based in Washington, DC. Some travel may be required.

Duties and Accountabilities:

Investment analysts work closely with IFC's investmentofficers, responsible for the origination, structuring, negotiation, execution,and subsequent supervision of IFC's investment projects. Responsibilitiesinclude, but are not limited to:

• Conducting industry and market research and assisting in the team's marketing and business development efforts, including preparing pitch books and presentations for clients.• Assisting in screening and analyzing new business opportunities, including building and reviewing financial models to assess investment projects' viability and employing other valuations methodologies to support the investment analysis.• Preparing internal investment proposal documents for senior management and credit presentation, including describing the rationale and risks of the proposed investment.• Participating in investment appraisals in host countries and negotiations with clients. • Monitoring existing investments in portfolio companies.• Work closely with sector, environment & social, and climate specialists on benchmarking of performance of IFC metals & mining projects.• Work closely with the team on evolving strategy for investment in the sector, drafting PowerPoint presentations and evaluating portfolio performance to improve profitability and impact for IFC in the sector.• Organize workshops and conferences for business development (including preparing presentations, marketing materials, etc.) and disseminate lessons learned internally; and,• Work with both IFC mainstream and upstream teams to promote new business and innovation.

Selection Criteria

• Minimum Bachelor's degree with a specialization in finance, economics, or business.• At least one year of relevant work experience as an investment analyst at an international investment bank, commercial bank, private equity firm, or asset management firm. Previous exposure to the metals & mining sector is a plus.• Strong quantitative/numerical skills with significant experience interpreting financial information and developing and analyzing excel-based financial models.• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.• Excellent presentation skills.• Demonstrated ability to work successfully in multicultural teams and across regions.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; knowledge of other languages would be a plus.• Highly motivated and proactive, committed to the highest ethical standards.• Interest in the World Bank Group and IFC's mission, strategy, and values.
