Investment Banking Director, Converts
Job Description
Job Purpose:
BTIG is seeking a Director to join its Converts team in the Investment Banking group in New York. The ideal candidate will demonstrate potential to take on a significant role in deal execution by providing day-to-day support to senior bankers and clients while also providing professional guidance to junior team members.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the transaction life cycle: client sourcing, marketing, due diligence, negotiation, documentation, and closing
- Build and maintain relationships with senior client executives; actively develop, manage, and participate in the Firm’s business development and marketing initiatives
- Monitor client, industry, and regulatory agencies for potential changes that may affect client needs
- Generate significant and sustained revenue and identify future revenue opportunities
- Analyze financial information (economic, industrial, and corporate developments) to produce forecasts of business, industry, and economic conditions for use in advising clients on deals
- Provide deal expertise and oversee the delivery of creative and timely pitches with and without junior team members
- Lead the coordination and presentation of multi-jurisdictional sales proposals to international clients
- Conduct thorough due diligence including but not limited to client visits, analyzing business models, and comprehensively reviewing industry trends and related regulations
- Work with specialists as needed to support successful deal completion
- Understand the complexity of transactions and related risks (credit, market, operational, legal/compliance, etc.)
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders for making business decisions and implement strategic initiatives
- Recommend and take ownership of measures to improve organizational effectiveness
- Provide motivation and guidance for the team by acting as lead trainer, providing constructive feedback, and articulating the roles and objectives for BTIG team members
- Work alongside the Compliance team to ensure all BTIG activities are in compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree from a top-tier school with a minimum GPA of 3.5; 7+ years of direct investment banking experience
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively in presentations, as well as express complex financial strategies in an organized and articulate manner
- Strong work ethic, detail orientation and a passion for excellence
- Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to convey ideas
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Highly organized, proactive, energetic and decisive, with high level of integrity
- Ability to comfortably interact with business clients and management
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills and proficiency with relevant banking-related databases / applications (Bloomberg, CapIQ, etc.)
- The ability to excel in both team and self-directed settings
- Must have FINRA Series 63 & 79 licenses
- Must be based in the New York Area
- The successful candidate must be able to travel to internal and client meetings, corporate preparation sessions, and industry events and conferences
Compensation:
BTIG offers competitive compensation and is required by law to include an estimate of the salary range for each role. Salary range is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, years of applicable experience, skills, qualifications, licensure and certifications, and other business and organization needs.
The current base salary range for this role is $240,000 - $300,000 per year. Please note that certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as discretionary bonus.
