We have an exciting opportunity within our Retirement Solutions Technology Organization where the development lines are working on a large multi-year Tier 1 initiative. We are looking for a technically strong, motivated team player who takes initiative and can juggle multiple assignments while providing high-quality solutions to our business partners.  This position will provide an opportunity to upskill other team members while participating in full-stack development for a Java-based application.  The position is based in Columbus, OH, and there is the possibility of a hybrid or work from home schedule.

Primary responsibilities include

• Leading and participating in the delivery of quality solutions
• Leading the design, development, and implementation of IT solutions
• Troubleshooting complex software development problems and providing effective solutions
• Driving line performance to deliver high-quality solutions by eliminating waste and fostering an environment of continuous improvement

The ideal candidate for this role will be

• Skilled in at least one of the following Java, TypeScript/JavaScript, Angular 8+, RESTful API, and/or Apigee
• Experienced in using Github Version Control
• Skilled in SQL / PL*SQL
• Experienced working in an Agile team and have DevOps knowledge
• Familiar with Kubernetes - Rancher knowledge is a plus
• Strong in communication, people, and negotiation skills
• Passionate to learn and keep up with technology trends
• Able to adapt and learn quickly
• Able to help upskill less experienced developers

As a Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards in an agile environment.

• Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.

• Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.

• Manages medium to large project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director. 

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree. 

Experience: Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript. Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle. Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
