IT Application Project Manager

PAR West is seeking an Agile Applications Project Manager to oversee assigned application and systems development projects of simple to moderate complexity in nature. This role is responsible for end-user engagement, requirements gathering, developer engagement, and managing schedules and resources to ensure timely completion of assigned projects.

SUMMARY

This is a full-time, direct hire, professional information technology position which will work as a part of an Applications Development team located in Saint Louis, MO. The essential functions of this role will include direction of staff resources on software development projects. The Project Manager may or may not be the direct supervisor of the staff assigned to a project, he or she is responsible for the effective management and direction of those staff when their time is allocated to a project under the Project Manager’s supervision. This position requires basic knowledge of appropriate programming languages and development tools. This is an intermediate level position requiring the ability to complete development projects on a timely basis, using the skillsets of other Applications Developers. This position may work in conjunction with, or consult with, a Senior Applications Developer with expertise in the project area.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

o Develop the project backlog to ensure timely completion of the sprints. Obtain management and client agreement with the application backlog and timeline and advise of any obstacles or resource needs that may affect completion of the project as planned.

o Identify competencies and assign resources to development tasks appropriate to each individual’s knowledge, skill, and abilities.

o Communicate project goals, monitor project progress, and adjust resources as necessary to keep the project on track.

o Apply project management tools and tracking systems to manage all aspects of project progress.

o Utilize project resources and serve as an individual contributor to develop programming code or software modifications using appropriate languages and tools to optimize resources and meet functional user requirements.

o Utilize project resources and serve as an individual contributor to analyze user system and application needs, determine and evaluate potential solutions, provide system specifications and requirements, and design application programs to meet the requirements.

o Utilize project resources and serve as an individual contributor to design integrated solutions which may include applications, databases, networks, and related systems.

Required hard skills:

• Mid to High level of competency with Microsoft Office
• Mid to High level of competency with Windows based computers
• Low to Mid level of competency with Apple iOS devices

Preferred hard skills:

• SQL experience or basic knowledge of stored procedures and query writing
  
  • MySQL, SQL server, or equivalent
  • QuickBase, SalesForce and Heavy Jobs software applications a plus

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or commiserate experience equivalent
•  Appropriate college coursework, technical training, or industry certifications may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. Industry certification with directly related experience may be substituted
