IT Application Development Manager (Squad Leader)

The Squad leader will be responsible for driving the development and delivery of our applications.

The Squad Leader will serve as a highly visible point of contact to management leadership and collaborate with business stakeholders to create scalable software solutions.

The Squad Leader will coach and facilitate cross functional squads to deliver solutions that result in improved value for our business, in close alignment with our strategy.

Focused on transforming the way we work; this role gives the day-to-day responsibility to mentor and lead energized teams towards achieving great outcomes and maturing their capabilities.

The leader will ensure that the squads are equipped with the appropriate skills, knowledge, and resources they need to successfully deliver business outcomes.

A guardian for agile ways of working, this leader will support squads to improve productivity through creativity, innovation, collaboration, and decision making.

The Squad Leader is responsible for leading a team of developers, analyst and contractors (on-shore and off-shore), in the execution of production support, enhancement and custom development efforts across a defined set of WFS applications assigned to his/her team.

The main responsibilities of the position are:

• Setting the overall vision to direct and inform your squad’s work.
• Manage the overall development cycle utilizing Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Set objectives and goals for the team and drive their achievement.
• Overseeing delivery of work produced by squad as well as tracking/enforcing SLAs.
• Work closely with the developers and architects to design and develop the best technical design and approach.
• Coordinating closely with your tribe leader to stay aligned on business goals and make sure your squad is progressing and delivering against them.
• Liaison between the business and the squad.
• Supporting and coaching your squad to reach their highest levels.
• Overseeing the collaboration of Product Owner(s) prioritizing the work of the squad through a well-organized backlog of user stories and clearly communicating what needs to be done and by when.

Requirements:

• Experienced in leading & delivering both packaged and custom developed applications.
• At least 5 years of development background in Java, .NET or any other modern development platform.
• 5 years as a development leader in custom application development in Java or similar modern platform.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in Scrum and Agile Methodologies.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery and automated testing
• Experience in leading teams, coaching, and mentoring.
• Experience in working with outsourced development squads.
• Experience in microservices and API development.
• Experience with Cloud computing
• Experienced with DevOps & best practices around Continuous Integration and automated testing.
• Commitment to incorporating quality software practices into all phases of the project life lifecycle.
• Experience leading cross-functional AGILE teams.
• Experience in leading teams through change.
• Demonstrated ability to grow talent and leverage teams effectively for optimal success.
• Proven track record of strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
