Job Description
Summary:
The IT Business Analyst will be part of our IT PMO portfolio and provides strategic business analysis services to all IT verticals and business partners. The focus of this position is to work closely with the IT teams, Product Engineering organization and our business units to gain in-depth understanding of customer's business strategy, processes, services, roadmaps and how they impact or intersect with IT projects. This role will be key to understanding the requirements necessary to address business challenges.
The IT Business Analyst is responsible for reviewing assigned business processes from end-to-end to identify and address operational, financial, and technological risks along with opportunities to improve efficiencies. Responsibilities will include a full range of activities from gathering requirements on small to large scale projects, as well as analyzing operational business functions that affect teams both within and outside of IT to identify areas of opportunity to streamline and improve processes.
Responsibilities:
The IT Business Analyst will work closely technical teams and business partners to drive day-to-day deliverables and execute strategic direction. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Lead or participate in all planning and requirements gathering activities of new IT projects; organize kick off meetings, obtain an understanding of the project scope, identify required project participants, and coordinate all planning activities
- Elicit and clearly document all business and systems requirements (including but not limited to the project scope, risks, issues, use cases, milestones, resource requirements, dependencies, etc.)
- Collaborate effectively with the assigned IT Project Manager to ensure all project related templates are updated with the required information, including the Project Charter
- Manage relationships and expectations by developing a communication plan to keep team members and leadership abreast of project planning activities; utilize formal and informal written communication methods (for example, emails, newsletters, PowerPoint presentations, executive updates, task lists, updates) to communicate updates and findings
- Facilitate project meetings and presentations to diverse audiences (senior management, business partners, technical staff)
- Provide and support the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities
- Identify improvement opportunities (proactive and reactive)
- Demonstrate up-to-date expertise in Information Technology and apply this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices
- Identify ways to increase adoption and customer satisfaction
- Understand and negotiate needs and expectations of multiple stakeholders
- Develop test plans and use cases, as needed
- Support system conversions, upgrades, enhancements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business or technology
- 2+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in IT
- Excellent written, verbal, web, presentation, and face-to-face communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage and prioritize multiple competing initiatives
- Previous experience working on large scale IT projects that include gathering requirements from multiple cross-functional teams
- Strong understanding of IT Infrastructure, Security and/or Networking concepts and capabilities
- Experience successfully implementing projects in a Waterfall environment
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies, cadences, and ceremonies
- Experience working with and influencing resources at all levels within an organization
- Positive nature, enthusiasm, motivation, and a desire for continuous improvement
