BASIC PURPOSE

To provide expertise in the design, installation, and maintenance of the Banks' Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL database management systems. They will provide technical expertise in the use of database technologies and are accountable for the overall performance of the enterprise's database environment. They will work closely with analysts and developers to define and resolve information flow and content issues.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and scale SQL databases in accordance to industry best practice standards and the organization's needs
• Configure servers and processes and automate tasks to improve reliability and reduce development time
• Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users
• Conduct troubleshooting and bug fixing on database and applications; resolve issues with limited downtime or data loss
• Seek out methods to develop more efficient processes for handling and accessing data, automating recurring tasks, and performing routine maintenance
• Assist developers with writing more complex and optimized queries, changing data structures or automating tasks to decrease development time
• Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required
• Work with vendors in evaluating and implementing database solutions
• Assume additional responsibilities as requested

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or MIS preferred. (Note: directly related job experience and/or a related business degree can be substituted in lieu of degree requirement)
• 5+ years experience with Microsoft SQL Server Database
• 3+ years experience with Azure SQL Database solutions
• Hands-on experience with database standards and best practices
• Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security and high availability
• Practical experience with programming languages (SQL, .Net, Powershell)
• Familiarity with database design, documentation and coding practices
• Familiarity with Data Warehouse concepts
• Creative and skilled problem solving skills
• Good oral and written communications skill including the ability to work well with people with varying technical abilities
• On-Call support for after-hours/weekend activities as necessary
