We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for an IT Director Analytics & BusinessIntelligence on our Information Technology team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2 days a week in the office.

As an IT Director Analytics & BusinessIntelligence you will lead the data analytics, data architecture strategy and deliveryfunctions, while collaborating with data experts deployed throughout theorganization to satisfy the reporting and analytic needs of the business units.Partner with the business leadership across the AMA to develop and maintaindata and analytics architecture and develop roadmaps to strengthen the AMA'sposition as the source of current, accurate, relevant and comprehensivephysician data and healthcare provider data. Support in-depth analysisdiscovering new opportunities for the AMA's continued growth and enablingfact-based decision making and predictive analytics. Lead development orconfiguration of accelerated solutions to quickly demonstrate viability of newtechnologies to effectively address business problems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Enterprise dataanalytics and data architecture strategy

  • Define and lead the IT analytics and business intelligence technology roadmap, based on needs of business owners and the overall organizational strategy.
  • Advance and maintain the overall data architecture technology roadmap, based on needs of business owners, and the overall organizational data strategy.
  • Lead the design and development of enterprise analytics, data visualization, predictive modeling, and data architecture projects to produce data-driven behaviors that accelerate business objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to develop forecasts, statistical models, segmentation schemes, and other data-driven analyses to drive marketing and merchandising efforts to acquire and convert customers.
  • Develop and manage enterprise standards, roadmap, best practices, guidelines and processes to drive business and support compliance with the enterprise data architecture, analytics roadmap and data governance.

Data analytics andapplication development data architecture direction and practices

  • Identify emerging data visualization, data analytics, predictive modeling and data architecture practices with an eye toward introducing improvements at the AMA.
  • Host forums for the exchange of ideas between all AMA analysts and data scientists and provide marketplace updates.
  • Review the technology roadmap for data-related initiatives, making recommendations to retire or subscribe to new technologies where appropriate.
  • Ensure third-party solutions support enterprise data standards for integration with AMA systems or drive the process for new standards development and adoption.

People Leadership, andFinancial Planning

  • Provide appropriate training, guidance, and leadership for all professional staff.
  • Responsible for setting goals, evaluating performance, and developing and advancing staff skills/expertise.
  • Lead the training of the analytics team and ensure that the team meets the reporting, analytical and modeling needs of the business users.
  • Develop and manage budgets and expenses for all data analytics efforts, including capital initiatives and operating expense activities.

Reporting and data architecture process improvement

  • Work with departmental data analysts and data scientists to gather data cross-functionally and build dashboards self-service analytics tools and/or predictive models that provide business insight through data quality metrics.
  • Create, monitor, and evolve processes and architecture that support the work of the cross-functional analysts; includes needs gathering, definition, development, prioritization, and support.
  • Develop and maintain the various reporting, analytical and modeling tools, while consolidating and integrating where possible.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is required, MBA a plus.
  2. Minimum 10+ years' experience working in the business intelligence field, directing, or building data architectures, creating data analytics strategy, data analytics tools (PowerBI, Business Objects), and predictive models including both structured and unstructured data.
  3. Able to operate effectively in a federated environment to lead internal colleagues, external resources/partners, and other stakeholders to identify and maximize opportunities to apply technologies to create and maintain the optimal user experience, and the organization's and business unit strategies.
  4. Minimum of 5+ years of experience building coalitions requiring various business and technology stakeholders to execute data strategy initiatives.
  5. Minimum 5+ years of experience managing people; able to develop and grow talent.
  6. Proven ability to deliver projects to timeline and budget, including resource allocation management and resource modeling.
  7. Development management experience including systems design is required; solid understanding of configuration management and release management is required, especially full life-cycle management.
  8. Proven track record in enterprise product management, business intelligence, data visualization, predictive modeling, organizational leadership, data architecture - preferably in complex, multi-disciplinary organization.
  9. Technical skills with a strong understanding of data architecture tools, languages, and methodologies.
  10. Ability to demonstrate understanding of machine learning in relation to predictive models preferred.
  11. Experience with Big Data trends, tools, analytic, and modeling methodologies. Experience with PowerBI, Azure and Snowflake a plus.
  12. Demonstrated ability to convey technical knowledge in business terms, comfortable with presenting to others in a clear, concise, convincing manner.
  13. Excellent time management and organizational skills, including ability to accurately gauge project duration, deliver on deadlines, and manage a workload with possible conflicting priorities.
