IT Engineering Lead

Position Information:

BreakForth Solutions is seeking an IT Engineering Lead to support our Federal customer. The successful candidate will lead a team that is designing, developing, implementing, and creative solutions that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of highly reliable and available solutions. In this position, the IT Engineering Lead will manage and deliver functionality in close collaboration with clients, ensuring successful oversight and client delivery of impacted projects.

Essential Functions:

• Working with Federal leads and the contract support team, capture and analyze system requirements from clients to design and develop solutions offerings that meet customer requirements such as, but not limited to:
  1. High availability
  2. Redundancy
  3. Software as a Service
  4. Recovery

• Lead the internal team of system engineers, database administrators, system administrators, and other program support in the execution of operations and the development of new solutions.
• Collaborate with application developers, engineers, and enterprise architects to develop designs, providing advice on performance standards, implementation challenges and technical risks, and schedules for implementation.

• Use data to model the reliability of system changes, making recommendations for improvements, with an emphasis on impacts to system capabilities and performance, to develop and enhance processes to ensure zero data loss and zero application down time.
• Support the deployment and maintenance of PaaS management and provisioning tools for application and database development and support.

• Design, evaluate, and install applications on platforms using various operating systems including Linux/Unix and Windows.
• Analyze, research, and make recommendations concerning software and hardware systems that need to be updated. Provide support to analyze and research potential changes in use of current IT assets and determine needs for projected increase/decrease of network capacity that supports operations.
• Design automation scripts to handle routine tasks on various applications and systems, which increase proactivity and efficiency.
• Design, plan, and implement systems that facilitate efficient and effective management of highly available servers, systems, and storage environments.
• Monitor Change Log maintenance, prioritization, and workload planning.
• Communicate proposed and actual changes via established change control processes, ensuring changes, solutions, and progress are documented properly. Support ITIL and ISO 20000 processes.
• Research, analyze, and make recommendations that affect the architecture of major implementations. Support a broader team by remaining current with technological developments and industry trends that can be used to creatively offer effective and efficient solutions.
• Support continuous deployment with DevOPS tools, planning and agile processes and thinking.
• Apply best practices, tools, and methods to support the delivery of projects on time, within budget, and to performance specifications, in partnership with the contract Program Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related fields.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in database management, designing, deploying, and maintaining solutions (e.g., Cloud-based databases, SQL Server/Oracle, XML).
• Demonstrated experience leading a team of 5 or more people in an IT engineering environment.
• Knowledge of ITIL and ISO 20000 standards.
• Proficient in multiple programming languages (Java/.Net, Scripting)
• Demonstrated experience with a combination of the following:
  • Web Development
  • Low code/No Code application Development
  • XML (Schema/Exchanges)
  • Platform/Application Administration (Linux, Windows)
  • Workflow Software (ServiceNow, MS Dynamics)
  • Identity Management (Authentication, Authorization, Directories)
  • Cloud Technologies (Azure, AWS, IaaS)
  • Application and Database Hosting
  • Backup and Recovery
  • Solution Redundancy
• Experience with the development, updates, and maintenance of technical and operational documentation.
• Work closely with business users and IT specialists, as well as with outside vendors, to plan, deploy, and maintain a range of IT solutions.
• Work closely with project teams and customers to adhere to security policies and processes.
• IT Project Management experience preferred.

Education/Skills/Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
