We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a IT Software Internon our Software Development and Strategy team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 1 day a month in the office.

As a IT Software Intern; you will assist with developing reusable, scalable, and maintainable business systems and delivering best-in-class software applications and websites. Our systems are built with C# and ASP.NET MVC, but we leverage a wide range of Microsoft technologies such as PowerApps and PowerAutomate. Will provide day-to-day support for the Employee Onboarding, Employee Offboarding, and Forms Center platforms, as well as custom module development and testing to ensure quality and security of code. Generalized SharePoint knowledge is a plus - settings, content, permissions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

System Development

• Participate in Microsoft technology stack system development life-cycle for new solutions as well as enhancements; including requirements analysis, design, and work estimation activities.

• In addition, some projects may require a more iterative approach to software development depending on the methodology being utilized.

• Assist with development of software solutions to specified end-user business requirements, user stories and complete unit testing for all software development.

System Maintenance

• Participate in technology renewal activities such as applying new software upgrades, patches, and completion of any required programming, testing, and improvements.

• Work with the designated manager to provide operational system support.

• Participate in "break-fix" issue resolution.

• Assist proper validation with end-users to ensure system issue resolution.

May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Working towards BS or BA degree in Information Technology or related field.

2. Experience with .ASP.NET MVC, C#, html, and CSS a plus.

3. Experience working Sharepoint technologies such as Microsoft PowerApps and Microsoft PowerAutomate a plus.

4. Experience with relational databases, ideally Microsoft SQL Server

5. Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience and varying levels within the organization.

6. Ability to work effectively within a team while being considerate with other team members required.

7. Ability to manage time effectively.

8. Ability to express technical concepts effectively verbally and in writing.

9. Familiarity with Test Driven Development and proficiency in unit and functional testing

10. Ability to work well within a team of software engineers on project tasks.
