A Brief Summary of This Position:

The Information Technology (IT) Manager, CRM serves as a value stream owner and has end-to-end view and ownership of the Salesforce CRM solution and is primarily responsible for product increments development, delivery, and support. The VSO provides overall direction and guidance to specialists, developers, designers, and business systems analysts. Responsible for driving development across multiple agile teams and phases to ensure execution of project work plans. Determines Technology priorities, build a technology roadmap, and ensuring software development & data management objectives are met. The VSO works closely with the business owner(s) to build a groomed backlog of business and technology priorities in accordance to well defined strategic roadmap for that value stream. This role requires a strategic mindset, strong business acumen and in-depth understanding of technology, architecture, and agile principles to be successful. The VSO is a critical link between strategic business planning and ground level execution.

Essential Functions:

  • This position reports to the Director IT Commercial and Customer Applications and currently has 6 direct and no indirect reports
  • Hybrid, flexible schedule
  • This role requires up to (10%) travel (internationally/domestically), including overnight stays
  • Responsible for effective and timely development of new and/or enhanced systems/technologies using Salesforce (SFDC) technology.
  • Develop and maintain technology roadmaps for cost efficient and sustainable solutions that drive value added capabilities to the business
  • Monitors all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle and application ownership
  • Mentors junior staff and direct repots
  • Evaluates the need for technical customization and minimizes custom development where possible
  • Ensures high level technical support is provided
  • Works closely with Business leaders, other IT managers, and management to identify and maximize opportunities to use technology to improve business processes
  • Prepares business cases, including financial analyses of potential new technologies/systems/applications. Evaluates based on company strategic needs and resource availability.
  • Oversees business analysis, development work and quality assurance of projects for assigned systems/technologies
  • Contributes to information technology development standards, policies, processes, and procedures to ensure consistent compatibility and integration
  • Continuously reviews the technology needs of supported business functions/processes relative to new technological developments and trends
  • Keeps abreast of the industry and emerging technology
  • Manage and maintain relationships with key technology vendors in domain supported

  • Leads and manages team to accomplish objectives through effective recruitment & selection, training & development, performance management and rewards & recognition
  • Ensures team is implementing new technology constantly across all BUs
  • Evaluates the need for technical customization and minimizes custom development where possible
  • Perform reviews of application architecture
  • Helps develop a roadmap for Salesforce (SFDC) which aligns with business priorities
  • Review technical SFDC implementation of team and ensure deliverables meet business requirements
  • Lead team with integrity and create an environment where employees feel included, valued, and supported to do work that energizes them
  • Accomplish management responsibilities, which include sourcing and hiring talented employees, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, recognizing, and developing employees, identifying, and managing risks, and completing daily management tasks
  • Must be capable of clear, professional, and courteous verbal communication and articulate written communication
  • Communication in person and via telephone and email is required daily and is expected to be tailored to the intended audience
  • End-user communication must be presented so a non-technical employee can follow instructions to facilitate rapid resolution
  • Rapport and teamwork must be maintained with all members of Valmont's IT staff. This position works directly and independently with business units' functional areas to assist with their daily jobs and use of our platforms.
  • Looks for opportunities improve and applies industry best practices to day to day operations
  • Must be able to apply critical thinking to complex situations and demonstrate an ability to troubleshoot complex problems with minimal assistance
  • Ability to manage time and multiple tasks are critical to this position
  • Must be able to work independently with little or no direct supervision
  • Decision processes requires resolving business situations and providing effective customer solutions and service to end users, as measured against fair and reasonable expectations set by the business and IT management

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Preferred Bachelor's with 6+ years of relevant experience or Associate degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or 10+ years of relevant experience
  • 5+ years of experience managing Salesforce implementations and support or equivalent experience
  • Technical development experience in SFDC
  • MS Office skills including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Analytical skills and able to tell a story using data
  • Ability to be flexible and conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
  • Ability to prioritize and communicate priorities to team and stakeholders
  • Decisive problem-solving and capability to assess people and situations with accuracy
  • Confident self-starter with integrity and accountability
  • Team player and the ability to work collaboratively with others from all areas within Valmont
  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills
  • Highly motivated, competitive, and entrepreneurial individual with a desire to tackle challenging opportunities

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in computer science, IT, Business Management or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems (IS), or another relevant academic discipline
  • 10+ years of IT experience with strong business analysis background
  • 5+ years of working knowledge of engineering systems, CRM tools and integrating requirements into systems
  • 5+ years of experience functioning as a project team lead or project coordinator
  • Relevant professional certifications such as: IIBA (International Institute of Business Analysis) ECBA level 1 of knowledge (Certification not required)
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification, concentrating on business process mapping of systems and information
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience in an IT role

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. Up to 10% travel requirements for this position. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
