Manager of Product Development

Role Summary

Corporate IT is actively searching for an experienced Data Engineering Manager with a background in Healthcare. The candidate will lead and grow a team of analysts and developers to build business solutions for external and internal user organization(s) including Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), Patient Care Medical Homes (PCMHs), hospitals, Payer Solutions (Managed Care) and Value-Based Care Executives. The applicant is expected to be a strong, hands-on, technology leader with experience in creating solutions for 3rd party payers. The ideal candidate will serve as the technical point person, working closely with business and development teams to advance the product technology and product roadmap. The role will include dealing with complex business integrations, eliciting requirements, and implementing secure and high-performance applications across the organization. They will be engaged in a wide variety of work, including but not limited to web applications and web service development, platform development, automation, and coaching/mentoring of teams adopting the platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Manages/organizes a group of developers, and analysts and leads specific development work streams autonomously in line with business priorities
  • Contribute at a highly technical level to dive into the applications and process, and leads the team to ensure the accuracy of data and compliance with requirements
  • Hands-on role who is willing to roll up sleeves and build out a scalable integration process. Leads technical design planning, solution approach and manages technical implementation, addresses technical concerns, ideas, and suggestions
  • Work collaboratively with other analytics teams, and business stakeholders to support 3rd party data integration and proactively engage in continuous improvement efforts for their operation, and propose appropriate solutions
  • Identify and assess best sources/partners to drive product strategies and capability/capacity needs to enable growth, new product opportunities, and market innovation
  • Recruits, develops and motivates staff to ensure a highly engaged and values-focused department.
  • Responsible for migration of mainframe legacy processes to state-of-the-art databases and data appliances.
  • Work with new technologies to provide state-of-the-art analytics to business users
  • Develop and maintain operating procedures and support documentation


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Previous management or mentoring experience managing teams of a minimum of 6-8 direct reports
  • 8 + years of experience in the field of application development, database development, and ETL and/or data analysis domains with strong big data knowledge (Databricks, Hadoop, Hive, and/or Spark)
  • Hands-on coding and application experience with programming languages like Python, Java, or equivalent
  • 3+ years of SQL experience
  • Experience in integrating 3rd party data, HL7/Lab Results Data, claims data
  • Experience working with JSON, HL7, CSV, 837, and other health care data formats.
  • Working experience in FHIR is a plus.
  • Experience working with IBM Mainframe is a plus
  • Ability to take ownership of a project, manage assignments end-to-end, from input to execution, and meet project deadlines
  • Understanding data standardization practices in the payer domain, healthcare claims processing, integrating Healthcare data, and security related to HIPAA is a plus.
  • Problem-solving aptitude, with a willingness to work in a fast-paced product development environment and a hands-on mentality to do whatever it takes to deliver a successful product.
  • Proven experience in working cross-functionally, leveraging their skills to influence and drive results within the matrix organization
  • Strong leader, with effective communication, and collaboration across multiple organizations
  • Must be motivated, creative, and technically astute. Able to multitask and keep track of details.
