Job Description

Labcorp is recruiting a DevOps IT Manager with proven expertise managing one or more teams and platforms, along with deep DevOps, AWS and IaaC experience. In this role, you will be responsible for helping to build a high performing team of engineers and architects and lead this team to deliver products with quality, timeliness, and scalability. You will also play a key role in helping with architectural and design decisions on new platform initiatives and set enterprise level standards.

As a people manager you are comfortable learning new things on the fly and helping your team learn unfamiliar systems and technologies. You make pragmatic technology decisions to balance scalability, speed to market, and long-term maintainability. You are data-driven and comfortable with agile development practices, rapid development cadences, and continuous deployment methodologies to deliver quick incremental value to customers. You understand that the best managers serve their teams, removing roadblocks and giving individual contributors autonomy and ownership. You can effectively partner with product management, technical leads, and stakeholders across the company to deliver impactful solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates across DevOps Engineering and other technical teams to define architecture, optimize performance and right size environments.
  • Works closely with development and production teams to optimize workflow processes.
  • Leads technical evaluation of new technologies and tools. Defines DevOps Engineering processes and procedures along with quality guidelines and standards.
  • Manage and mentor a team of DevOps architects and engineers, including conducting performance reviews, code reviews.
  • Act as main point of contact for key vendors/partners for which integrations are critical to the business operations.
  • Champion and visible leader of the DevOps process, including communicating frequently with users, stakeholders, peers, and senior leadership about the state of the DevOps ecosystems, planned improvements, known challenges and future opportunities.
  • Ensure adherence to security protocols.
  • Stay on top of DevOps best practices and trends, establishing and evolving internal processes.
  • Help assess the need for additional staff and/or contractors for projects and assist in the hiring process.
  • Performs other tasks, as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • BS Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • This position can be remote but must be a commutable distance to our offices in North Carolina.
  • At least 15 years of experience in DevOps Engineering (Internship experience does not apply).
  • At least 5 years of working experience in Cloud Native technologies (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and IaaC.
  • At least 4 years of Unix or Linux system administration experience.
  • At least 5 years of people management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring development teams using agile methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complicated analytical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to perform autonomously with minimal oversight.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative.
  • Prior experience in health care fields is a plus.
