IT Operations Coordinator

We are looking for an IT Operations Coordinator to join our software maintenance and operations team in Chicago, that is looking for a future career in Software Development. This team looks after a variety of key Mintel systems and products by addressing bugs, regular operational work, and proactive codebase improvements.

You will have the opportunity to learn and work with a large range of technologies from working with Linux and other Unix-like operating systems, languages such as Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, monitoring tools, such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpsGenie and Sentry, to use Agile development methodologies, such as Scrum and Kanban.

• Monitoring automated error reports and network status systems
• Raising and reviewing cases in Mintel’s ticketing system
• Responding to incoming requests from internal users
• Undertaking simple systems operations tasks to keep systems running smoothly
• Triaging and escalating issues according to priority/urgency
• Maintaining and updating systems documentation

• Good software development foundation and keen to learn new technologies
• Basic knowledge of database usage, such as MySQL
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent administrative and organizational skills with good attention to detail
• Desire to work in a collaborative environment and progress with the team
• Aptitude for identifying and solving problems
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining good manners and a friendly demeanor at all times
• Ability to logically analyze, clearly document problems and decide on the best course of action
