Job Description

Who We Are

WillowTree, a TELUS International Company, partners with the world’s leading brands to help them tackle their thorniest challenges - be it launching new digital products, delivering personalized marketing at scale, or harnessing the power of data and AI to transform their business. These mission-critical initiatives aren’t solved by a single discipline. Great digital is a team game - it requires seamlessly combining strategy, engineering, design, data science, marketing, and more. Other firms have bolted on these capabilities - as digital natives, we’ve built them into our teams from Day 1. The result? Top and bottom lines that grow, alongside our client’s capabilities. Check out how we have impacted our clients' digital portfolios over the years.

In January 2023, WillowTree was acquired by TELUS International (Symbol: TIXT).  The combined company brings an unparalleled ability to deliver seamless, trusted, digitally-enabled experiences across any channel a customer might choose - be it mobile apps, websites, voice skills, chatbots, email, service agents, or associates.

Location and Flexibility

When team members told us they needed more flexibility and autonomy around where and how they worked, we acted, creating two options to accommodate two different styles of work. One non-negotiable principle along the way? We had to retain our deep culture of collaboration, both among ourselves and with our clients. Introducing Work From Near (Hybrid) and Work From Anywhere (Remote) at WillowTree. Learn more here.

This role will have the option to be in a Work From Near (Hybrid) capacity based out of one of our offices OR in a Work From Anywhere (Remote) capacity with travel to clients and WillowTree offices expected.

The Opportunity

As an IT Program Director on our Business Intelligence and Internal Tooling team, you will collaborate closely with our Engineering Director and Senior Business Analyst to lead a cross-functional project team. Together, you'll establish and grow partnerships with internal executive stakeholders to deliver world-class data visualization and internal tooling products, which are vital to our organization.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the development of critical products within the Business Intelligence and Internal Tooling domains by providing strategic direction and guidance to your project team.
  • Utilize your extensive experience in client services to facilitate effective decision-making on complex issues related to the scope, design, architecture, and process with the internal executive leadership team.
  • Deliver timely, tailored communication for various cross functional audiences: engineering teams, internal operations teams, and C-level executives.
  • Create and communicate comprehensive project plans that align the goals of our organization, our exec stakeholders, and any third-party entities involved.
  • Encourage sustainable flow for your team while focusing on key company objectives.
  • Adapt to changing scenarios and environments by applying appropriate project management frameworks that align with the needs of our internal stakeholders and projects within the Business Intelligence and Internal Tooling domains.
  • Regularly visit headquarters to meet with internal executive leadership to solicit alignment on the roadmap, project scope, and manage the overall relationship (usually 1-3 days per quarter, up to 20% of the time during kickoff or launch periods).
  • Engage directly with executive stakeholders to effectively manage their expectations, maintain project scope, and nurture the relationship.
Qualifications/Skills
  • 3+ years of experience in the software development industry as a project/program leader (e.g. Project Manager, Product Manager, Product Owner, Team Lead, or Scrum Master)
  • Demonstrated empathy, experience and confidence managing software projects with complex scope and with multiple internal executive stakeholders.
  • Experience facilitating working sessions with exec stakeholder groups and internal teams.
  • You've managed projects, provided feedback, and led a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to clarify complex ideas and navigate ambiguity for your team and internal executive stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale custom software development projects, overseeing the entire process from discovery through UX design, implementation, and deployment.
Bonus Points:
  • Professional experience as a Project or Product Manager and Scrum Master from a major technology consultancy or agency
  • Experience leading large-scale custom data science projects
  • Experience working on projects using a Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery pipeline to rapidly deliver working software with zero downtime
  • You’ve guided a client to further their use of modern engineering practices or agile software delivery processes
  • Certifications such as CSM, CSPO, PMP, SA, SPC, etc.
  • Account planning and growth activities
  • Managed projects for executive level client partners or Fortune 500 clients
