The Mathematica Products Team is focused on building digital products and platforms to support research projects at Mathematica. This team is creating a high-performing and scalable platform to store, manage and use data to support several use cases in research project lifecycle. You will help us drive our objective of delivering business value through delivery of this foundational infrastructure. Through it, researchers can collaborate to explore data, process, analyze and distribute data.

As the IT Program Manager on the Mathematica Products Team, you'll manage key initiatives including software development projects and platform rollout. You'll work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment with engineering, project sponsors and stakeholders to set goals, understand business requirements, assess project risks, priorities, allocation of resources and will closely monitor the execution of detailed project plans. This is a hands-on project management role, in a small cross functional team; the ideal PM is one who enjoys both planning and oversight as well as management of tactical day-to-day tasks with development team.

While most of the Products team works in the Princeton office, we are open to candidates working in other Mathematica offices or working remotely, with the expectation of monthly visits to the Princeton, NJ office.

Responsibilities:

• Apply project management best practices to manage project schedule, cost, scope, and quality • Work hands-on with project teams to lead and manage complex project work/tasks using Scrum methodology. Keep team informed of project health/status with schedules, financials, progress of work, and identification of risk following Agile project management best practices • Communicate risks/issues and potential courses of action to project leadership • Manage external development partner relationships (onshore/offsite/offshore), holding vendors/partners accountable for deliverables and adhering to project budget and timelines • Leading communications with technical project staff, internal stakeholders, external consultants, subcontractors, and software vendors • Report on project to senior leadership and escalate as needed • Lead project governance meetings, set agenda and follow up on actions as defined and support in defining overarching governance needs • Translate technical concepts to a business and non-technical audience • Manages resource availability and allocation • Assist in contracting process with external vendor/partners by collaborating with corporate functions such as Legal, Finance and Contracting teams

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • 5+ years project management experience in software project/product development organization
  • A combination of equivalent education and work experience may be substituted for the above requirement
  • Proven success in managing software development with an external development partner for 3+ years
  • Scrum Master certification or demonstrated experience managing teams using Scrum/other agile methodologies
  • Solid understanding of SDLC for software products/services
  • Experience with tools such as JIRA, Smartsheet, MS Office and MS Project
  • Functional understanding of Cloud technologies and ability to follow technical concepts with expert technologists
  • Working understanding of Product development lifecycle and best practices
  • Excellent organizational, communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to lead and manage multiple priorities, sometimes simultaneously, under deadlines
  • Experience with project management tools, particularly the Atlassian suite
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary, in-person, and virtual teams, including subcontractors and senior staff
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, and collaborative approach to work
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and get things done
  • Ability to travel to the Princeton, NJ office at least once a month
This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of $90,000 - $125,000. This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance. To apply, please submit a cover letter, resume, location preference, and salary expectations.
