What You Will Do

Program managers lead enterprise-wide, cross-functional strategic programs that includes multiple sub-projects. They direct the daily activities of program and project team members to ensure they provide high quality and cost-effective services. Program managers help the organization gain benefits from managing several efforts at a program level that would not be realized at an individual level and are crucial leaders to achieving transformational goals.

This role provides the opportunity to lead technology-related programs and projects that result from Stryker's mergers and acquisitions. IT M&A programs are high in risk and complexity and have aggressive timelines, so we are looking for a passionate program leader with cross-functional experience to lead teams through establishing effective structures, operating principles, managing scope, interdependency and timeline management, optimizing costs, resources and risk and communicating with purpose.
  • Partner with M&A Integration Lead(s) on cross-functional, high-impact, high-profile programs/projects to deliver IT portion of integrations leading to revenue and synergy achievement success.
  • Provide overall program leadership, ensuring program delivers on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Provide steady leadership in the face of uncertainty, change, and aggressive deadlines common to a rapidly growing company with an evolving business model.
  • Develop resourcing strategies to ensure optimum support for projects and for the day-to-day operational activities
  • Proactively set performance expectations and help project managers and subordinates manage expectations of delivery and requirements, yielding consistent results
  • Review program budget variance and scope change requests, and participate in the budget-resolution process
  • Ensure that the scope of the projects within the program align with business priorities
  • Manage program-level risks and interdependencies
  • Promote collaboration and coordination across broad categories of stakeholders
  • Lead cross-functional meetings and foster teamwork; drive escalation and resolution of issues
  • Address escalated resourcing issues with project manager and resource manager, as needed
  • Support and coach project managers within the program
  • Provide technical expertise in planning, execution, and leadership of program, projects, and initiatives
  • Provide program reporting and status to senior management
  • Maintain excellent relationships with all levels of the matrix organization
  • Create funding requests, forecast, monitor and report on project financials, and maintain financials in project management tools
  • Liaise with the supplier management groups as needed on supplier engagement, quality of services, experience and cost
  • Ensure all projects meet success parameters and ROI targets stated in business case
  • Assist, share learning, and mentor others within the PMO regarding standards, organizational understanding, and relationship building to promote the successful delivery of projects


What You Will Need
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • PMP certification required
  • Six-Sigma or related experience a plus
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience is required
  • Extensive record of successfully planning and delivering complex projects
  • Experience managing remote project teams
  • M&A project management experience preferred
  • Expertise in Microsoft Project and other project management tools
  • Demonstrated experience in full project management lifecycle for software/maintenance/ development/ implementation projects and IT methodologies (ITIL)
  • Ability to guide change and influence decision making
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills, including the ability to navigate in a highly matrixed organization effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to make effective presentations, and proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders
