Job Title: IT Risk Manager

Location: Charlotte, NC

Job Description

Reporting to the CIO Chief of Staff, the newly created IT Risk Manager role will provide IT Risk Management expertise, focusing on the identification, reporting & remediation of enterprise IT risks & thematic IT management issues (think "COBIT") as well as supporting operational IT teams on good risk identification practices.

Working with the Cyber Governance, Risk & Compliance team currently implementing an ISO27001:2022 based ISMS, & Enterprise Risk team managing DORA compliance, the role will focus on engagement with 1st line organizations (Infrastructure, Applications, Data) to ensure their designs, processes & procedures demonstrate robust adherence to IT best-practices, as well as with project teams to ensure that risks are appropriately managed through project lifecycles.

You will also assist the Cyber GRC, Enterprise Risk, Compliance, Vendor Management & Operational Resilience teams in ensuring that 3rd parties are applying effective IT risk management processes within their organizations to limit our inherited risks.

Experience of managing cross-department IT risk remediation initiatives is a must - regular, accurate & insightful reporting is considered a critical aspect of ensuring deliverables remain on track, and appropriate resource & priority is being applied.

IT Risk Manager's roles and responsibilities

The Barings IT Risk Manager role is to develop and administer IT risk policies and procedures for the organization and ensure that systems remain operational, available & resilient.

• Develop, establish, and implement policies for IT risk management to feed into the ISO27001 & DORA initiatives, and guideline 1 IT teams in effective IT risk management.
• Assess the operational IT risks that the organization faces & ensure appropriate processes are in place to address these risks.
• Perform/monitor risk assessments, which comprise analyzing, identifying, describing, and quantifying risks that impact IT Operations.
• Develop and maintain good communication channels with risk partners, such as Cyber GRC, Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance & Legal.

Skills Required

Analytical skills: IT Risk Manager must have analytical capabilities to analyze and detect prospective risks and vulnerabilities.

Communication skills: IT Risk Manager must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with other IT risk management professionals to properly appreciate the company's key risks and create effective risk management solutions.

Business knowledge: IT Risk Manager must have a thorough understanding of the business environment and must be able to comprehend how businesses operate, policies work, and how to recognize internal and external risks.

Leadership and management ability: IT Risk Managers must possess leadership abilities to motivate and manage their teams. If a threat happens, offer your employees support, make suggestions, and manage the potential risk.

Problem-solving skills: To solve technical problems analytically and successfully manage management information and collection, analysis, reports, and other tasks, IT Risk Manager must have outstanding problem-solving skills.

Interpersonal skills: IT Risk Manager must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build productive, trusting relationships with other IT and business stakeholders.

Financial expertise: IT Risk Managers who work in the banking sector must be familiar with applicable financial regulations. If an IT Risk Manager has sufficient financial risk understanding, they can quickly assess risk, calculate the cost of productivity loss, and minimize threats.

Strategizing skills: IT Risk Manager should devise creative strategies and solutions to protect the company's risk while minimizing the possible threat. They can discover advanced approaches and tools to manage risk effectively.

Working under pressure: IT Risk Manager must be able to function under pressure because an error in the company's system can compromise its survival. They must already have a strategic plan to limit risk and maintain skills under pressure. They will be able to identify the threat instantly and manage it as soon as possible.
