We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for an IT Senior Business Analyst on our Software and Strategy Development team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2 days a week in the office.

As an IT Senior Business Analyst, you will helpcentralize knowledge capital on AMA data assets, including enrichment of thesystem and application inventory, enterprise business glossary, data processes,and usage guidelines. In addition, thisrole will support business data advancement initiatives linked to dataoptimization, data governance, data quality, and data privacy that supportAMA's mission to promote the art and science of medicine and the betterment ofpublic health.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Requirements & Documentation

  • Identify short-term and long-term opportunities to improve data management maturity and data-driven decision-making
  • Facilitate sessions with data stakeholders to collect and document data concepts linked to AMA systems & applications - i.e., business glossary terms, data quality rules, data transformation logic, usage guidelines, data movement processes and procedures
  • Analyze and document user needs, including existing business processes, workflows; data flows; use case scenarios and best practices
  • Assure that all products, requirements, and design deliverables adhere to design consistency, reusability, and maintainability standards

Operations System Support

  • Support the enterprise data office by leading initiatives that ingest, harmonize, and expose data across multiple platforms
  • Collaborate with the designated team lead to provide operating system support to end-users
  • Work with the team lead in issue resolution efforts
  • Assist technology stakeholders with root-cause analysis to determine underlying problems and make recommendations for short- and long-term solutions

System Testing

  • Define test approach and execute test cases (plan, scenario, and desire outcomes.)
  • Assist with proper validation to ensure that issues have been resolved and processes have been implemented
  • Support end-users on the adoption of enterprise data tools - activities like setup users, tool navigation, and end-user training

Reporting

  • Report project status regularly and proactively communicate concerns, issues, and risks to management along with recommendations for solutions
  • Assess tools and techniques that are appropriate for the nature of the quality improvement initiative and methodology employed for data collection and reporting (eg, benchmarking, statistical process control charts, or run charts)

May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. BS or BA degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience is required
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience with documenting, analyzing, and defining data-centric processes
  3. Must be able to identify what the business needs not what the business wants and must be able to effectively explain the difference between the two concepts while gathering business requirements
  4. Ability to understand general technical design specifications and architecture to identify potential challenges with supporting the identified business requirements
  5. Strong communication skills needed to express complex technical and statistical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing
  6. Ability to proactively initiate, develops, and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external team members to achieve results
  7. Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience
  8. Must have experience documenting complex business systems problems and be able to provide recommendations based on industry trends, feasibility, and resource constraints
  9. Proactively initiates, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external team members to achieve group goals and objectives
  10. Ability to take a business problem and break it down into a series of actionable steps that ultimately help address the gap
