About the Role: IT Specialist

SVT Robotics is looking for a highly capable IT Specialist to provide technical assistance to our staff. In this role, duties will include ensuring teams have the required hardware and software to perform their job functions optimally, recommending system upgrades and managing New Hire onboarding.  You will also be tasked with ensuring peak system performance and security while supporting the deployment of customer facing test environments and hardware within our lab.

A potential day in the life of SVT’s IT Specialist:  

  • Install, diagnose, repair, maintain, and upgrade all organizational hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance
  • Troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via work order) in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user assistance where required
  • Build trusted relationships internally and externally
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for end user requests, providing Level I & II system support
  • Occasionally perform system maintenance and provide technical support after typical business hours to maintain system availability and to achieve schedule demands
  • Streamline user device support functions 

Required skills/qualifications:   

  • Excellent interpersonal skills under high pressure situations
  • 1-2 yrs prior experience in End User Services
  • Ability to be in office in Norfolk, VA 2-3 days/week
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting both Windows and Mac laptops
  • Knowledge of enterprise applications, tools, and operating systems; including Windows, Mac OS, MS Office, Azure AD, MS Endpoint Manager, MS Teams, Zoom, IOS/Android, file sync and share tools, etc.
  • Strong program and service delivery skills
  • Deep sense of urgency and ability to identify and achieve quick wins
  • Ability to quickly learn new subject matter areas and drive towards operational excellence
  • Experience supporting Executives or VPs
  • Knowledge of IT service desk tools and best practices like ITIL
  • Entrepreneurial mentality
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced, creative, and resourceful small company environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Managing infrastructure (Server maintenance (Windows and Linux servers (ubuntu))
  • Networking experience (VPN – setting up and configuring VPN applications)
  • Experience working with a ticketing system (preferably Zendesk)
  • A+ certification
