Summary
About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is with INSCOM, 781st Military Intelligence Battalion, responsible for developing, planning, and coordinating security-related documentation and accreditation packages for Automated Information Systems and networks.

Conditions of Employment
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
- If selected, the agency will provide information regarding what documentation is needed and how to request any legally required exceptions from this requirement.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance based on a Single-Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain access to National Security Agency (NSA) facilities and networks.
- Temporary duty (TDY) travel may be required 35% or less.
- All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.
- Must satisfactorily complete the training and obtain the required certifications/recertification as outlined in DoD Publication 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program 19 Dec 05 (incorporating Change 1, 15 May 08).
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment physical based on the physical requirements of the position.
- Position is Non-Combat Essential (NCE) in support of Armyβs mobilization and wartime mission during periods of increased tension and mobilization and could be assigned to any location worldwide.
- Prior to occupying this position, civilians must be exempt from recall to active duty because of Reserve or retired military obligations.
- Position is designated Mission Essential and incumbent must be able to remain on duty or make every effort to report to duty on time during emergency and/or crisis situations.

Army DCIPS positions apply Veteran's Preference to preference eligible candidates as defined by Section 2108 of Title 5 U.S.C., in accordance with the procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 2005, DCIPS Employment and Placement.
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one (1) year of experience at the GG-12 grade level, or equivalent, which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience developing security-related documentation and accreditation packages for Automated Information Systems and networks to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems and confidentiality of classified systems, networks, and data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GG/GS-12).
In addition to the specialized experience listed above, your resume must show you have Information Technology-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies as defined:
1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attention to detail.
2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
