THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK) DIRECT HIRE, Position Description Number T5239000 and is part of the MD JFHQ G6, National Guard.

Direct Hire Authority will be used to fill this position. The 'Rule of Three', Veterans Preference and traditional rating and ranking of applicant does not apply to this vacancy.
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.


1. This position conducts information assurance functions. The incumbent shall comply with the requirements of the certification program and will be required to obtain and maintain certification. Certification requirements are outlined in DoD Instruction 8570.01-M

2. Work may require access to classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.

3. The incumbent of this position description must have, at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.

4. Irregular and overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies.

5. The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.

6. This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one year of specialized experience in the Information Technology Network/Network Engineer field at the GS-11 level (or at a level comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 level if Military or outside the Federal service)

Quality of Experience - Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience and/or training must show possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position.

Education

You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.

Additional information

This position may be eligible for up to a 25% Recruitment incentive for new employees. A newly appointed employee is defined as an individual receiving their first appointment (regardless of tenure) as an employee of the Federal government; an appointment following a break in service of at least 90 days from a previous appointment; or, under certain circumstances, an appointment when the employee's Federal service during the 90 day period immediately preceding the appointment was limited to one or more of the following: time-limited or nonpermanent appointment in the competitive or excepted service; employment with the Washington, D.C. government on or after October 1, 1987; appointment as an expert or consultant under 5 USC 3109 and 5 CFR Part 304; certain non-appropriated fund employees; or a provisional appointment. To qualify for a relocation incentive the worksite is in a different geographic location (normally defined as 50 miles or more from the worksite of the position held immediately before the move). Must show evidence that a residence in the new geographic location has been established.
