Avar Consulting, Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of AMDEX Corporation, is a policy research firm with more than 20 years of leadership and experience in social science research, data collection and analysis, program evaluation, and policy analysis. Avar seeks a Lead Social Scientist to join our team, based in our Rockville, MD headquarters.

Position Overview

Avar Consulting is seeking an Information Technology and Security Specialist to join our team supporting our federal government customers.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the security, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data.
• Performing security analysis, testing, and certification.
• Installing, configuring and maintaining software and hardware
• Maintaining documentation and inventories of IT systems and configurations.
• Configuring physical and cloud IT systems to be compliant with Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) standards and Authority to Operate (ATO) requirements for federal government computing systems.

Minimum Qualifications

• Customer service focus.
• Experience configuring and maintaining office IT systems and software, including workstations, laptops, and servers.
• Experience configuring and maintaining cloud-based services, such as Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with IT security best practices and procedures.
• Familiarity with FISMA standards and the ATO process of at least one federal agency.
• Understanding of operating systems including Window, Linux, and virtual platforms.
• Experience budgeting for and procuring IT hardware, software, and services.
• Strong documentation skills.
