The IT Systems Administrator will identify, diagnose, resolve problems and implement solutions for users on the NS network, which is a secure network that separates Network Services from the Corporate network. The applicant will ensure Telesat maintains a secure and private network in order to protect customer data flow and communication.
Responsibilities
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve problems for users on the NS network. Communicate and/or implement solutions to end-users.
- Escalate critical support issues to senior staff for guidance on potential resolutions.
- Collect and document all relevant information prior to escalation to allow senior staff to operate efficiently
- Document, track and monitor problems to ensure timely resolution
- Monitor and maintain ESXI Clusters and VM environment
- Monitor and maintain network backups and backup solutions
- Maintain a working knowledge of WAN/LAN topologies and internal networking equipment such as Fortinet and Juniper
- Monitor and maintain Windows Server Infrastructure like Active Directory, PKI, DHCP, DNS, WSUS
- Implement and monitor Linux server infrastructure
- Maintain email servers
- Maintain a working knowledge with Solarwinds Orion
- Monitor and maintain Kratos Compass nodes, implement changes to current layouts.
- Implement GPOs and other security controls in relation to NIST 800-53, IA Pre, ISO 27001
- Ability to create scrips in Powershell and Bash
- Administer and maintain datacenter, server, & workstation hardware.
- Maintain and improve upon enterprise security posture. Monitor security alerts and events for compromised hosts, networks, and malicious activity. Perform threat hunting on endpoint devices with tools like Cortex XDR, FortiAnalyzer, and various SIEM tools.
Education and Experience Required
- A Diploma or Degree in a relevant area of study with a preference for Computer Science together with demonstrated operational network-related experience.
- Minimum of 2 years in Information Technology (with a related University Degree) or minimum of 5 years in Information Technology (with a three-year College Diploma)
Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- System Center Configuration Manager (Microsoft Endpoint Manager) + Intune
- Working technical knowledge of network systems
- Working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols and standards including Active Directory.
- Solid understanding of the Windows based endpoints.
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Office products and workstation configurations.
- Solid scripting experience (eg. Powershell)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to achieve Secret clearance.
- Must be well organized and able to grasp system concepts and communicate their applications.
- Must be capable of quickly learning new systems and associated software applications for proficient execution of tasks.
- Ability to manage multiple demands with time related constraints in a fast-paced environment.
- Prioritize and schedule work as necessary to maintain department standards and service level agreements.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of internal employees, communicate technical information, create and deliver presentations and information sessions to both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Demonstrated experience in applying technical expertise and in-depth evaluation to solve complex problems in own area of expertise.
- Ability to create and maintain documentation and training materials, including KB articles, for technical staff and end-user audiences.
- Linux experience is an asset.
- MEF CECP certification is an asset
Other Requirements
- The service operates 24 hours, 7 days per week. Rotating On call periods and the ability to work in an unsupervised environment are critical to this position.
- Normal working hours are Monday to Friday 8 until 4pm, with occasional overtime and on-call work
- Ability to undertake occasional travel.
- Occasional climbing of ladders up to 20 feet may be required.
- Ability to obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).
- Bilingual (English/French) is an asset
