IT Systems Engineer

Your role in helping us shape the future:
As an IT Systems Engineer, you will occupy a critical role as the primary point of contact to provide support, maintenance, and administration activities for mission-critical enterprise services for Intelsat General Communications (IGC). You will act as the primary point of contact for all end user issues. Further, you will manage the employee experience with the technical infrastructure of the organization, working with a variety of vendors and using your knowledge of system platforms to guide new hardware selections for end-user equipment, peripherals, and collaborative tools.
You will work closely with other engineering teams to provide resolutions for a variety of technical issues. You will be responsible for producing how-to documentation to build and maintain a searchable database of quick solutions to common concerns. You will be responsible for hosting a variety of educational sessions for groups of end users to advise on the use of new platforms and features within the infrastructure.
As a part of the disaster recovery team for the IT department, you will be responsible for ensuring reliable backup and recovery capabilities for vital business data on a multitude of platforms. Your role will also be critical to the cybersecurity compliance of the organization, as you will ensure that all workstations and common end user applications remain patched/updated to latest versions to mitigate risks to the computing environment.
Are you up to the challenge?

• Act as the primary point of contact for the IT Department to resolve issues reported to the company IT helpdesk.
• Configure, monitor, and support the backup and recovery system, inclusive of managing regular tape rotation to off-site storage
• Research and resolve customer issues in a timely manner with minimal escalations in accordance with company service level agreements and best practices.
• Install, upgrade, and troubleshoot a combination of COTS and internally built applications as part of regular administration of user systems.
• Administer Active Directory user accounts, permissions, group policy memberships, and other regular support activities within this platform.
• Administer Microsoft Exchange user mailboxes, distribution lists, external contacts, and public folders.
• Administer Microsoft Azure and Azure GCC High user accounts, permissions, mailboxes, and other end-user administrative support activities.
• Support datacenter activities (rack servers, run network cables, assist in inventory maintenance, etc.)
• Perform regular account maintenance, application installations, hardware planning and troubleshooting of various collaboration technologies (VTC, ATC platforms such as WebEx, RingCentral, or Microsoft Teams)
• Manage vendor relationships for all end-user platforms, inclusive of workstations, peripherals, collaborative platforms, and phone systems.
• Deploy and maintain all end-user computer equipment and peripherals, evaluating and making suggestions on platform replacements and/or additional functionalities to improve business functions as appropriate.

You should definitely have:

• Four-year college degree in a technical field of study or equivalent work experience
• At least 3 year of relevant work experience in an information technology helpdesk support or engineering role
• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to secure and maintain a Secret U.S. Government clearance
• Demonstrated knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Windows, and other key technologies
• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks based on severity, breadth of impact, or urgency
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Strong and consistent documentation skills
• Problem determination, isolation, and resolution skills

It would be nice if you had:

• Demonstrated knowledge of Veritas Backup Exec
• Familiarity with industry-standard application and image deployment tools
