IT Systems Engineer

This position will be based in Austin, TX. 

Responsibilities 

• Maintain existing applications / infrastructure and monitor critical services. 
• Set up and maintain administrator and service accounts. 
• Collaborate with the IT team to ensure proper integration of the application. 
• Work closely with the IT team and vendors to tune and troubleshoot application issues. 
• Plan, coordinate, test, and communicate changes, upgrades/maintenance schedules, and new services with the IT team and users, ensuring business operations will operate correctly in current and future environments. 
• Set up and monitor backups and data replication as needed to ensure the capability to recover. 
• Evaluate and implement new software and services with security and redundancy in mind.
• Assist in identifying and resolving security issues as they arise. 
• Monitoring and performance of existing applications and infrastructure. 
• Take primary responsibility for firewalls, switches, WAN, and Internet connectivity across multiple sites. 
• Assist in supporting, expanding, and maintaining internal systems and public applications. 
• Assist in the designing and implementing of applications to AWS and Google Cloud. 
• Troubleshoot and correct network issues, participate in root problem determination and formulate plans to prevent repeat occurrences 
• Install and configure computer network equipment. 
• Implement and manage disaster recovery, back-up, and redundancy for the network. 
• Evaluate and recommend security improvements and system upgrades. 
• Monitor network to ensure optimal performance. 
• Test release of products to minimize user impact and ensure compatibility. 
• Create technical support documentation for systems and applications. 

Qualifications 

• Bachelor's Degree or 5+ years’ experience in system / application administration. 
• Familiarity with Internet Security principles and best practices. 
• Demonstrated proactiveness to learn new products and technologies. 
• Experience administering Okta, Jira, Dropbox, Slack, and Google Workspace
• Experience with both MacOS and Windows operating systems. 
• Experience with virtualization technologies and techniques. 
• Understand the workflow and process requirements of business units related to the application. 
• Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding customer service, be a good listener and work well with a diverse group of customers and IT. 
• Demonstrated ability to be the subject matter expert in supporting, maintaining, and administering complex applications. 
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. 
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. 
• 2+ years experience in a network administration role. 
• Previous experience with Cisco firewalls, switches and routers preferred. 
• Experience in the implementation and management of VPN’s and remote access. 
• CCNA, or CCNP certification a plus. 
• Experience with BGP and Internet peering 
• Familiarity with Internet Security 
• Strong documentation and communication skills 
• Experience with vendor and provider management
