IT Systems Engineer II
Job Description
Course Hero is scaling! The IT Systems Engineer II will play a critical role in the IT team's strategy by designing, implementing, and maintaining the technical infrastructure that supports the organization's technology needs. They work closely with other team members within TechOps and other business partners to ensure that our infrastructure and systems meet the organization's requirements and are reliable, secure, and scalable.
Here are some ways you’ll make an impact:
- Design and implement IT systems: you will be responsible for designing and implementing IT systems that meet the organization's needs including researching, recommending, and implementing hardware, software, and network solutions.
- Maintain IT systems: you will be responsible for maintaining the organization's IT systems, including performing regular updates, patches, and backups. You will also be responsible for monitoring the performance of the systems and addressing any issues that arise.
- Ensure system security: you will be responsible for ensuring that the organization's IT systems are secure. This includes implementing security protocols and procedures, monitoring for security breaches, and responding to security incidents.
- Provide IT help/technical support: you will be responsible for providing technical support to end-users within the organization either directly or escalated from junior level team members. This includes troubleshooting technical issues, providing guidance and training on IT systems, and assisting with the setup and configuration of new hardware and software.
- Collaborate with other IT team members: you will work closely with other TechOps team members, including administrators, DevOps/SRE team members, Data Engineering, Developers, HR, Finance, and Support. They will collaborate on projects and initiatives, share knowledge and expertise, and work together to ensure the organization's IT systems are operating effectively, efficiently, and securely.
Are you our IT Systems Engineer?
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience and a history of progression in the IT, Support, IT engineering, or a related field
- Strong understanding of computer hardware and software systems, networking, and security protocols
- Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Exchange, LDAP
- Familiarity with cloud technologies, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies, such as VMware and Hyper-V
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
- Intermediate-to-expert understanding of identity, MDM, and asset management solutions like AzureAD, Okta, Jamf, Kandji and Intune, Snipe-IT, and Oomnitza
- Troubleshooting difficult IT problems without SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
- Willingness to go above and beyond what is listed in this description; as the company grows, so will the role.
- Provide on call support and emergency response as required

- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+, AWS, GCP, Jamf, can demonstrate that an IT systems engineer has a strong technical knowledge base and is committed to professional development.

This role is eligible for hire in the San Francisco Bay Area (US), Vancouver (Canada), and Toronto (Canada).
In accordance with California law, the base salary for this role if filled within California is $122,000.00 - $164,000.00.
