Job Description

Summary

The IT system Administrator is responsible for the operations of secure and highly available computing platforms, servers, and networks on premise and also when provided as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). He, either fully or partly installs, maintains, upgrades, and continuously improves the companies operating environment depending on the service delivery model. He also maintains the ongoing reliability, performance and support of the infrastructure services. This includes monitoring the operating environments; responding to incidents, problems and planning for growth.



Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical institute degree/certificate in a relevant field or equivalent work experience
    • Typically requires 1-3 or more years of relevant IT work experience
    • A+ Certification
  • Demonstrates in-dept knowledge of a broad range of hardware and software products
  • Advanced knowledge of wireless networking concepts, troubleshooting and infrastructure
  • 3+ years of IT Help Desk experience
  • In depth knowledge of Microsoft OS (Windows 7, 10, Server 2012 – 2019)
  • Microsoft Active Directory
  • High school diploma or equivalent.



Important Personal Skills

  • Solid technical background in a technical environment including infrastructure networks, hardware, or telecommunications
  • Experience with incident ticketing systems, workstation management systems and desktop imaging.
  • Good knowledge cloud-based infrastructure services, in particular regarding security topics
  • Experience using automated monitoring tools
  • Ability to identify incident trends in order to elevate incidents in accordance with standard protocols
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Good analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Good attention to detail, testing and documentation
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with third party service providers and vendors
  • Technical leadership, negotiation, and conflict resolution
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a diverse set of cross functional groups
  • Able to work additional hours as needed
  • Willing to work with hazardous and/or flammable chemicals (with proper safety precautions, training, and equipment)
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and in environments that require frequent bending, reaching and lifting
  • Ability to understand and adhere to strict environmental, health, safety, security and quality policies
  • Ability to read and interpret standard operating procedures
  • Pass pre-employment testing including a physical, drug and alcohol screening, and background check
  • Able to read, write, and speak the English language.



Job Tasks

  • Maintains and monitors network, security and computer systems in his area of responsibility to meet the organization's current and future requirements
  • Responsible for management and maintenance of storage, virtualized environment, servers, network devices and productivity tools
  • Monitors systems, identifies, and diagnosis performance issues proactively
  • Works within strict time frames and elevates incidents within defined timeframes
  • Setup and tests all changes to computers, networks, network equipment, hardware, software, or hosted applications
  • Monitors service delivery compliance to budget, quality standards and customer and business stakeholder requirements
  • Coordinates infrastructure related to design and sets up activities at different stages of a project
  • Works with various vendors and service providers to ensure productive environment
  • Resolves issues and prepares status reviews and reports
  • Professionally represents the infrastructure team as a technical consultant on projects
  • Maintains the necessary project plans and documentation of all system builds, installations (hardware and software) upgrades, modifications, and maintenance
  • Interacts and coordinates with vendors, suppliers, distributors, and contract consultants
  • Maintains a good working knowledge of current infrastructure and future trends
  • Maintains good working relationships with all service providers and vendor to ensure that services received meet expected requirements of contract
  • Procurement of parts and repairs of computer equipment
  • Provide Instructions to users
  • User help desk
  • Advanced network troubleshooting, specifically wireless networking issues
  • Basic troubleshooting and coordination of solutions with maintenance personnel and vendors for a variety of devices such as:
    • Vehicle Mounted Terminals
    • Telematic devices
    • Hand scanners
    • Industrial barcode printers.
