IT Technical Specialist I

As a Junior IT Network Engineer Tech Specialist I, you will play a crucial role in supporting the organization's network infrastructure by assisting in the design, implementation, and maintenance of network systems. Working closely with senior network engineers and IT teams, you will contribute to the development of reliable and efficient network solutions to meet the organization's communication and connectivity needs. Your responsibilities will involve configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing network devices and services to ensure seamless operations and data transmission. You will have the opportunity to learn and grow in a dynamic IT environment while gaining hands-on experience with various networking technologies and tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Working in a team environment, this position is open to an individual who is highly motivated with strong communication skills.
• Under general direction, act as the contact for the Arbella community to report problems, request system enhancements or request IS equipment.
• This position will coordinate the resolution of problems through discussion over the phone, via email, remote control.
• Assist in the design and implementation of local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other network architectures.
• Configure and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to support network-related projects and initiatives.
• Participate in network security efforts, ensuring that the network infrastructure is protected against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
• Contribute to documentation efforts by maintaining accurate records of network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Assist in the evaluation of new networking technologies and recommend improvements to enhance network efficiency.
• Provide technical support to end-users regarding network-related inquiries and issues.
• Participate in on-call rotations to address network emergencies outside of regular business hours.
• In this position you will prepare and submit various management reports, create and maintain procedural documentation, as well as monitor adherence to Information Systems policies.

Requirements

• This individual should be detail oriented, possess effective problem solving skills, and should be able to work under pressure of time constraints.
• This position involves working occasional flexible work hours.
• A valid driver's license is required as travel to other Arbella offices in MA and CT may be necessary to resolve problems or work on projects.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, subnets, VLANs, routing, and switching.
• Familiarity with network protocols and services such as DNS, DHCP, SNMP, and VPN.
• Proficiency in network device configuration and management.
• General knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and resolve technical issues.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and end-users.
• Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or similar are a plus.
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and stay up-to-date with evolving networking technologies.
