IT Technical Writer

Mathematica is looking for a Technical Writer to join our vibrant and growing IT Services group. We are open to staff working remotely or in our Princeton, NJ or Washington, DC office. The technical writer will work with team members and other staff to deliver high quality documentation tailored to various stakeholder audiences.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, manage, and disseminate regulatory compliance and other technical documentation for the ITS department and other Mathematica project teams
- Prepare system documentation, diagrams, policies, procedures, and other supporting documents to clearly communicate complex and technical information
- Work with technical staff and system users to understand and document Mathematica IT systems
- Review systems architecture diagrams and existing documentation to understand system functionality
- Research, develop, and disseminate technical information among staff
- Contribute to a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation
- Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content
- Manage delivery of documentation to meet established deadlines
Position Requirements:
- BA or BS degree or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of professional experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Understanding of content management principles and systems, such as SharePoint and Confluence
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to write for multiple audiences
- Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking
- Demonstrated ability to establish strong working relationships with staff from other teams and roles
- Driven to engage with new information and continuously learn on the job
- Self-starter, entrepreneurial, highly motivated, 'get-the-job-done' attitude
- Desire to work collaboratively with other writers and staff and give and receive feedback
- As a federal government contractor, all staff working in our central ITS group with access to corporate computer systems are required to successfully undergo a background investigation or security clearance as a condition of employment
- Familiarity with information security and compliance principles or programs such as FedRAMP or StateRAMP
- Experience working in a technical writing position
- Experience with regulatory, proposal, or other highly structured writing
- Experience building content models or documentation templates
- Desire to research and analyze requirements to clearly understand requests and tailor documentation accordingly
