IT Technician
Job Description
With varying levels of supervision and responsibility the IT Technician configures, troubleshoots and maintains computer software and hardware. As part of the Gowan IT Support Team, this role’s responsibility is to answer our Help Desk line and manage all work through our ticket management system.
A successful IT Technician has thorough knowledge of computer software and hardware and a variety of O365 applications, Windows operating systems, and internet applications. This role displays wide-ranging troubleshooting abilities and sound customer service skills. The IT technician is also involved in special projects where knowledge of networking concepts, server management and cyber security practices will be employed.Â
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Configure, troubleshoot, and repair workstations and peripheral devices to ensure functionality
- Comfortable with imaging practices and deployments
- Install, troubleshoot, and configure appropriate software and functions according to Gowan specifications
- Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment
- Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work
- Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule
- Support and maintain local networks in ways that optimize performance
- Ensure security and privacy of networks, computer systems and data repositories
Required education, knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Required
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in IT technical support
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft’s product line: Windows, Office 365, Active Directory, etc.
- Strong diagnostic, problem solving skills and communication skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Working knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
- Working knowledge of networking and telecommunication concepts
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Travel (US, Canada, Latin America) will be required, less than 25%
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles
- Preferred
- Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, engineering or relevant field
- IT Certifications (e.g. CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional)
