Job Overview:

As an IT/Linux Systems Administrator, you must understand a range of current technologies and continuously explore and experiment with new systems. You will be responsible for owning IT server and systems infrastructure and assisting in the development and evolution of our internal services. Ideally, you are passionate about providing exceptional technical support to teams and have excellent listening and communication skills.

What You Will Do:

• Design, document, deploy, and support a wide range of technologies used by the team
• Configure and extend Linux server systems for a range of internal services in a virtual machine environment
• Monitor system and network performance; troubleshoot and resolve network availability and performance issues 
• Design, develop, and maintain a growing local network, including infrastructure for Ethernet, WiFi, VPN, and various network related tasks to support engineering development
• Drive long-term strategies to upgrade and improve our general IT infrastructure, server systems, processes and security
• Maintain standard images to preload end-user systems with up-to-date engineering software tools
• Develop scalable systems to automate aspects of day-to-day IT operations (preferably in Python)
• Maintain, configure, support, troubleshoot and secure firm’s Computer Network, including onsite servers, Cloud solutions, switches, routers, firewalls, auxiliary server components, VOIP services, individual workstations, and backup/recovery solutions 
• Maintain file servers, Firewalls, network access, Security Monitoring Systems, and system documentation as required

What You Will Need:

• 5+ years of experience in an industry setting working with command-line and GUI-based Linux systems
• 2-3 years of networking and cloud-based experience 
• Experience working on server and computer hardware, with previous experience building and updating reliable and scalable systems
• Proficiency with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C, C++, etc.)
• Strong debugging and system analysis skills to be able to quickly learn on the job and identify/mitigate issues
• Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
• Proficiency with Git and SVN for revision control
• High level of empathy and patience for others
• Excellent troubleshooting skills at all levels, from application to network to host 

What Would Be Useful:

• Bachelor’s Degree (Computer Science, Engineering, IT Systems, or related field)
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages, with advanced command line expertise
• Experience with cloud-based computing (Amazon S3 and AWS)
• Experience administering Atlassian tools and virtual machines (specifically Proxmox VE)
• Familiarity with networking hardware, firewall configuration and networking tools
• Experience with OpenLDAP, Puppet, or Ansible
• Familiarity with Security Standards and Policies, e.g., ITAR, NIST 800-171, and CMMC Compliance
• Demonstrated perseverance in problem solving and ability to proactively test for failure scenarios or edge cases

Additional Requirements:

• Applicant must be willing to work 40 hours a week on-site in El Segundo, California, USA
• Applicant must be eligible to work on ITAR projects
