JR43656 Japan Country Communication Manager

We are looking for a Country Communication Manager (Individual Contributor) in Japan to develop and drive Micron’s brand locally. Playing a meaningful role in driving all internal and external communications and marketing across multiple sites (mainly in Hiroshima, Hashimoto and Tokyo), you would be responsible for defining the country's related strategy, including local branding, media relations, digital, social and events aligned with Micron’s business and corporate objectives! Serve as the creator of local content and provide mentorship to executives, site communicators, and functional teams. Based in Tokyo (or Hiroshima, if you should desire) with report line to the Director of Communications and Marketing, Taiwan and Japan in Taiwan.

Responsibilities:

Define and implement Japan communication and marketing strategy.

• Develop and implement strategic plans and events in line with global business objectives and Micron’s Japan leadership.
• Leverage and lead local agency partners and budgets aligned with functional direction to help meet marketing and communications objectives.

Drive corporate marketing and communication priorities in Japan.

• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Micron’s market perception in Japan among key audiences and drive measured progress through targeted activities.
• Ensure Micron corporate narratives and results assist in enabling brand awareness to key audiences, solidifying Micron as the partner of choice for memory solutions, driving preference for Micron’s products and services, and promoting Micron as a great place to work for existing and potential talent.
• Effectively communicate Micron’s values to partners and the market, ensuring that all messages promoted in Japan are aligned with the corporate narrative.
• Work seamlessly with GCM partners at a global and regional level to build and implement plans aligned with business processes.
• Champion GCM pivotal initiatives and Micron brand strategy through counsel; continually developing customer, industry and driven expertise, and practice sharings.

Represent GCM to external and internal collaborators in Japan as a liaison

• Align and develop plans with the Japan leadership team to develop internal programs that support employee engagement and retention.
• Provide communications mentorship to local leadership and other key partners to ensure efficiency and integrity of brand execution.
• Engage in proactive outreach with partners and collaborators at all sites in Japan and host routine review meetings to ensure strong coordination.

Desired Skills:

• Strong marketing/Marcom expertise
• Excellent analytical, written and verbal business interpersonal skills (including Japanese/English language)
• Proven track record to provide advice and counsel to senior executives and management team
• Strong sense of accountability, attention to detail and delivering against objectives and adaptable to fast-paced environment
• Strong understanding of the media and industry analyst landscape's ability to influence
• Validated storytelling experience of helping a company's goals and brand come alive in both earned and owned channels
• Ability to partner with multiple functions and key partners in a highly matrixed organization

Education/Experience:

• Demonstrated ability or validated experience in communications and/or in a related marketing function (public relations, advertising, marketing)
• 10+ years of experience in media, social, brand marketing or integrated campaign management
• Experience working in a large, fast-growing, fast-paced company or in the high-tech sector
• Proficiency in MSFT Office 365 (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel)
• Education: bachelor's degree or equivalent experience or above, in following:
• Business, Business Administration/Management, Communications / Journalism / Marketing / International Business
• Semiconductor proven experience would be a plus
