Job Summary

Responsible for developing, implementing and testing product specifications for application programming interface and data layers across a range of software products and platforms. Within a squad of developers, a backend engineer will be a technical resource on several features, application programming interfaces, and practices. Works closely with product owners and work with developers across multiple teams within the same domain. Has in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline. Usually determines own work priorities. Acts as resource for colleagues with less experience.

Job Description

The Merlin Organization is the centerpiece of metadata for Comcast, Sky, and Peacock video metadata. This role will include metadata ingestion and integration as well as powering services that authorize playback and customer activations.

Core Responsibilities

Participates in the definition of application programming interface requirements and service integration touchpoints.

Partners with quality assurance to document integration and test plan.

Follows software development life cycle to implement new features.

Participates in the creation of integration tests that run with every code commit.

Assists in the development of automation of service consumption.

Builds out monitoring and alerting for live application programming interfaces and services.

Repairs, restores, and repaves backend services.

Maintains operation stability and corporate standards.

Delivers security team requirements to secure and harden.

Documents and maintains defects and enhancements in the company issue management system.

Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Ability to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as vital.
