Java Full Stack Software Engineer
Job Description
As a Java Software Engineer, you will work with Card Product technology teams and design leads across the Digital organization and broader JPMC organization on the business and technical architecture of the platform, as well as helping to move the organization forward by leveraging your experience building and running applications at scale in the cloud. This role requires the ability to design, plan and execute software delivery into production without failure that serves millions of Chase's customers every single day of the week. The majority of the time will be spent on hands-on coding.
What we're looking for:
We're looking for a strong Java Engineer to help deliver exceptional digital products and experiences to our clients. In this role, you will work with cloud-native technologies to build highly scalable distributed microservices on private and public clouds (AWS). You will design and implement the next generation of credit card applications using a modern technology stack: Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and CockroachDB distributed database. We value an agile and innovating engineering mindset, cross-functional team collaboration, strong engineering skills, and a positive attitude. Our engineers work within an Agile methodology (Scrum) and are passionate about solving complex problems. We also believe in full ownership and expect engineers to own all software components, from architecture and testing to production monitoring and performance optimizations.
Required Skills:
• BS in computer science, engineering, or an equivalent experience
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with Java, good at writing clean, modular, readable, and testable Java code
• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot framework, a good understanding of REST API principles and best practices
• Experience implementing microservices, container, and cloud-native application development
• Experience writing streaming applications with Apache Kafka or similar messaging technology
• Good understanding of principles of DevOps and Continuous Integration and Delivery
• Strong understanding of static code analysis, test-driven development, unit and integration testing, and automated test frameworks. Experience using Jenkins, SonarQube, GIT, and Maven.
• Proficient in working with relational and NoSQL databases
• Experience with Container (Docker) and Kubernetes container orchestration platform
• Experience with performance and monitoring tools
• Experience with Agile development methodologies: Scrum
• Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, ensuring quality and on-time deliverable
• Strong problem-solving/decision-making skills.
Desired (Good to have) Skills:
• Experience developing in AWS Cloud Platform
• Experience with Splunk, Dynatrace, or Grafana monitoring tools
• Experience with distributed databases like Cassandra, or AWS DynamoDB
• Proficiency in multiple modern programming languages
