Javascript Architect & Performance Engineer - IKEA Kreativ Mixed Reality

Geomagical Labs is creating 3D spatial computing experiences for millions of users around the world, in partnership with IKEA. Our pioneering IKEA Kreativ app lets customers scan photorealistic models of their spaces, then reimagine their spaces in life-like 3D, from anywhere, changing home commerce along the way.

About the role

We have an opening in our lab for a senior full stack engineer/architect with strong Javascript/Typescript skills, and strong Computer Science foundations

In this role, you will architect, implement, and performance optimize web-based platforms for 3D mixed reality. In the role, you will develop high-performance architecture, APIs, and features interfacing between the user, the 3D graphics engines, and our microservices cloud platform.

In this role, you will:

• Implement high-performance, magical, mixed-reality web experiences for IKEA Kreativ, from concept to production.
• Design & build Javascript/Typescript software architectures, used by millions.
• Lead web performance engineering, threading, optimized network I/O.
• Improve scalability, reliability & usability of our apps through wise tech strategies.
• Promote engineering best practices, through code/design reviews & mentorship.
• Build skills with 3D graphics & mixed reality technologies.
• Work on a dynamic team of serial entrepreneurs, designers, developers, AI researchers, and 3D graphics specialists

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience developing challenging & interesting Internet applications.
• Strong Computer Science and software engineering foundations.
• Expert in JavaScript, React, modern browser APIs, and browser-based debugging.
• Know-how in structuring growing JS applications, including refactoring and tooling decisions, as well as experience in writing automated tests (unit & integration).
• Experience solving challenging performance problems, with a data-driven approach.
• Desire to work independently, ship work quickly, and deliver a high quality product.
• You are a great teammate, interested in working with a smart entrepreneurial team, learning and mentoring each other.

Nice to have

• Startup experience is really nice to have.
• Experience with Playwright, browserstack and/or other web test automation platforms
• Experience with graphics programming (ThreeJS, WebGL, etc.) and modern rendering techniques
• Strong visual aesthetic to partner with the design team
• Experience with AR/VR or other mixed reality projects

• The USA salary for this full-time position ranges from $170,000 to $230,000 determined by location, role, skill, and experience level
