Job Description

BNY Mellon Developer Practices Group is seeking a JIRA Developer to join the team. The JIRA Developer will be responsible for understanding the current process, identifying gaps, gathering requirements to develop and deliver customized applications/projects to meet the organizational demands.

Duties include:
  • Develop customized APIs for Jira
  • Develop and maintain automation workflows in Atlassian JIRA and other Atlassian products including tool administration and customization.
  • Create JIRA projects, queries, and reports.
  • Install and configure plugins and deploy to extend JIRA capabilities, make dashboards for JIRA Connect add-ons, configure custom fields, support JIRA configurations.
  • Design custom JIRA workflow for different issues types to assist in Automation of provisioning, build & deploy servers and applications as well as other continuous integration workflows.
  • Develop creating JIRA templates, complex JIRA workflows including project workflows, screen schemes, permission scheme and notification schemes in JIRA.
  • Responsible for maintenance, administration, upgrade, and enhancements to JIRA, Confluenceand integrations with other tools or plugins.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across organization, gather requirements to develop, and deliver custom templates, workflows (automation) using Atlassian products (JIRA, Service Desk, Confluence etc.).
  • Developing components (add-ons/apis/plug-ins) or customizations for the Atlassian JIRA platform/Atlassian SDK
  • Developing interfaces / connectors with enterprise systems and services for various integration projects.

Required Skills:
  • University Degree preferably in IT or Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in development using Java and web-based architectures and technologies (REST, XML, JSON)
  • Solid software development experience and talent. Working knowledge of Java application servers . Any experience using Open Source frameworks, is a benefit.
  • Experience with distributed, multi-tier, mixed technologies, software architectures
  • Good knowledge of data modelling techniques, SQL and experience working with relational databases (ORACLE, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Experience with data integration tools such as BODI or SSIS
  • Experience building and supporting integrations built on REST services
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies
  • Ability to collaborate with a cross-functional teams of developers, analysts and operations stakeholders
  • Strong ability to communicate technical ideas and defend rationale for technical decisions Collaborate with developers, QE, DevOps, and user experience to manage the overall Jira Platform.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for the Jira Platform and application.
  • Develop and enhance Jira workflows, permission schemes, notification schemes, customized pages for company-wide use.
  • Use Jira Java and REST APIs/integrations
  • Understand and develop with Script Runner
  • Develop and deploy custom plugins for Jira as well as evaluate and install plugins from the Atlassian Marketplace
  • In addition, enhance and integrate internal service management applications by doing the following:
  • Evaluation and implement features and perform application upgrades
  • Develop new features on these platforms
  • Propose system improvements, gather requirements and sell ideas to the various stakeholders including preparing status reports, proposals and roadmap presentations.
  • Design, architect, deploy, integrate, improve, troubleshoot and support scalable development, test and production environments
  • Assist in creating detailed architecture design diagrams/business process modelling flow charts
  • Build and maintain documentation as it pertains to all Atlassian projects.
  • A working understanding of front end templating technologies (preferred)
Acts as SCM technical expert, responsible for defining the overall technical direction of the SCM department. Defines SCM plans and scripts/programs for the most complex configurations. Standardizes the use of tools, technology and/or business expertise in relationship to SCM approaches. Assists in defining standards, processes and procedures for the use of technology within the department. Defines and approves the process for metrics collection and analysis across all applications. Analyzes data and produces progress reports for strategic projects. Makes recommendations to improve efficiencies and outcomes. Interacts directly with clients and upper management regarding project activities. Contributes to the achievement of Software Configuration/Release Management objectives. Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, advanced degree is preferred 10-12 years of experience in a systems SCM environment, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plusBNY Mellon is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
