Jira Service Management Developer / Administrator (Contract)

The role will have responsibility for meeting the Jira and Jira Service (Desk) Management analyst, development and administration needs of Fox Robotics.  The role reports directly to the Head of Software and Machine Learning.  The Jira and JSM key stakeholders are primarily based in Austin, Texas.  

This position is a contract position; duration is TBD.

*Please note that since your primary stakeholders are based in Austin, we seek a professional who is available during Central time zone working hours.

Duties
  • Ensure Jira and JSM administration and development work is managed and implemented in a controlled and timely manner
  • Enable the adoption of the full functionality of the Jira and JSM 
  • Integrate solutions such as Slack, Opsgenie, Bitbucket, and Confluence.
  • Populate assets with external data connections.

Qualifications

  • 3-6 years of development experience of Atlassian systems (JSD/JSM, Jira server/Cloud)
  • 2-3 years of administration experience of Atlassian systems (JSD/JSM, Jira server/Cloud)

Requirements

  • Deep technical knowledge of
    • Design, build, customization and roll out of advanced Jira workflows and schemes
    • Design and implementation of Jira Service Management with Asset Management, including
      • Building and customizing queues
      • Building forms
      • Creating object schema and linking object types together
      • Importing asset objects from outside spreadsheets
    • Selection and implementation of Marketplace apps 
    • Knowledge and application of best practices for JSM/Jira
  • Ability to drive the entire process of implementing business changes through Jira, including
    • Requirements gathering:
      • Talk a user through their business process
      • Ask questions about how they interact with other departments and their own data
      • Lead them through articulating what their needs are, which they may have never had to fully spell out before
    • Document proposed processes:
      • Diagram out how Jira and/or JSM could meet users’ needs using common workflow diagramming standards
      • Make sure that all possible/required user input and programmatic output is represented accurately in workflow diagrams
    • Drive consensus on a business process
      • Review the proposed processes with the business user(s) and Jira stakeholders, walking them through the proposed processes and answering their questions
      • Receive input and synthesize into revision requirements
    • Codify the business requirements into solid Jira and JSM code
      • Familiarize yourself with our custom fields
      • Create and edit workflows and workflow schema to match the documented business processes
      • Build custom workflows that match the documented workflow diagrams
    • Roll out the end product
      • Create user-friendly documentation in Confluence on how to use the applications and workflows you’ve built
      • Spend time with end users who might have questions
  • Knowledge of related integrations, such as 
    • Slack
    • Opsgenie
    • Bitbucket
    • Confluence
  • Industry knowledge and context
    • ITSM practices and how they are fulfilled with JSM
    • Ability to work in agile framework
