Basic Purpose

Responsible for maintaining, monitoring, analyzing, financial information and accounting information. Under the supervision of the Controller, the Jr. Accountant is responsible for AP, preparing and posting journal entries, accruals, account reconciliation and assisting with month-end close in accordance with GAAP.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries to General Ledger (weekly and month end)
• Prepare and analyze account reconciliation
• Prepare and post accruals to General Ledger
• Assist in month-end closing.
• Manage AP
• Perform daily financial analysis
• Support Audits
• Perform departmental financial analysis and special projects as assigned.
• Back up to initiate company ACH and wire payments
• Prepare and issue ad hoc reports
• Train as backup for other accounting functions.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Preferred 2 - 3 years accounting experience (preferably in a food processing environment).
• Thorough understanding of the Generally Accept Accounting Principles.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal skills; ability to relate effectively with a variety of people.
• Ability to organize and manage own time effectively.
• Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as with an ERP system. Experience with 365 a plus.
