Junior Accountant

As the Junior Accountant at 7shifts, you will help ensure that our financial records are kept in tip-top shape. Reporting to the Manager, Accounting, you will get to flex your attention to detail skills by assisting with payroll compliance and contributing to critical month-end close processes, while demonstrating your motivation and organization skills. The Junior Accountant will have the exciting opportunity to also receive mentorship and work experience to help complement studies in the CPA program.

What you’ll do: 

• Assist with month-end close processes, including reconciling balance sheet accounts, preparing journal entries, and performing variance analyses
• Assist with Canadian and US payroll management, including US state registration and compliance initiatives
• Manage & issue corporate credit cards in compliance with established control procedures
• Code and process employee expense reports
• Prepare revenue share calculations in compliance with contract obligations
• Compile information for government surveys and grant reporting 
• Assist in preparing working papers and financial statements for external auditors in accordance with IFRS
• Suggest and help implement policies that drive process improvements
• Uphold adherence to internal control processes, accounting policies and procedures

What you bring:

• 1-2 years of experience in a similar junior accountant or bookkeeping role
• Accounting Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Experience using accounting systems such, as Netsuite, Xero, or Quickbooks
• Familiarity with pivot tables, match functions, or IF statements in excel
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams
• Strong time management and prioritization skills
• Excellent communication skills and exceptional attention to detail

• Completion of all the requirements to register in the CPA PEP Program
• Experience with Netsuite
• SaaS experience
• Audit experience
