Junior Accountant - Internal Operations

Chevo is seeking a Junior Accountant to work internally as part of the Chevo corporate staff.This internal position at Chevo will be assisting Controller with day-to-day activities including but not limited to running payroll, processing/paying expense reports, performing accounts payables and receivables, tracking project hours and funds to the contracted amount, and other accounting tasks as needed. Hybrid work location with some days virtual and some in Rockville, MD.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist Controller with day-to-day accounting activities
• Approve time sheets.
• Create spreadsheet to track important accounting information
• Present weekly accounting updates for weekly operations meetings.

Required Qualifications:

• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Management
• 2+ Years as an accountant or working as an internal accountant
• Strong organizational, analytical, and multi-tasking skills
• Strong MS Office Skills, especially Excel.

Desired Skills:

• Experience managing, updating, and maintaining accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial transaction (accounts payable, expense vouchers, and receipts)
• Experience performing payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and invoicing functions for a services firm
• Experience monitoring and managing all accounts receivables, deposit of monies and funds transactions accounts.
• Experience managing reconciliation of financial records, reports and financial statements
• Solid understanding of accounting for a federal contractor
• Comfortable monitoring project expenditures and compliance with policies
• Adept in performing budget and forecasting analysis, and conducting variance analysis
• A strong team player but can also work independently / self-directed
• Experience using Unanet or other accounting software.
