As a Junior Actuarial Analyst, you will assist with various actuarial requests and gain experience in the industry. While working at Banner you will find we are unique as we are care and coverage in one. You will be working in a Hybrid Remote role as some days will be in a remote setting and some will be in our corporate offices. Phoenix, Arizona metro residency is required for this hybrid remote role. Your shifts times will be determined together with the manager once hired. You will be working in a part time capacity at 20 hours per week. You, the ideal candidate in this role, will be a student in Math or Actuary Science degree program. POSITION SUMMARY
This position will assist in healthcare actuarial analyses under the supervision of actuarial staff. The position will become knowledgeable in, Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), Commercial ACOs, Employer Plans, Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plans (MA-PD), Medicaid, Medical Economics, and/or other healthcare data analytics.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Assist in healthcare actuarial analyses under the supervision of actuarial staff.
2. Assist in projections, pricing, reserving, and other analyses using tools developed in Excel, SAS, Teradata, Tableau, and other software, with the oversight and feedback from actuarial staff.
3. Develop/present results of the performed analyses to actuarial staff.
4. Participate in the development of actuarial models and reports for the continued growth of the actuarial team.
5. Provide support to actuarial staff in performing IBNR estimates, financial reporting, and rate adequacy studies.
6. Research and compile information about healthcare regulations to support actuarial staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Business, Finance, Healthcare Administration or related field.
Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
License/Certification: Successful completion of one or more actuarial exams.
Knowledge of software for data analysis; specifically, spreadsheets (e.g. MS Excel, VBA), data extraction and manipulation (e.g. SAS, Teradata, R) and data visualization (e.g. Tableau).
