Junior Cloud Engineer, #534

Clearance: The ability to attain and maintain a DHS constituent agency clearance or DOD Top Secret is required. Holding an existing active clearance is preferred.

The Office of the Chief Technologist is responsible for leading the technical continuous learning community at Dev Technology and working on research and development across its capability areas. We are comprised of accomplished practitioners, architects, published technical authors, and other leaders in Biometrics, AI/ML, and Cloud Architecture. Our team directly supports projects throughout the company by providing actionable insights, technical guidance and solutions, and various content pieces to support the overall advancement of the government mission. 

What You'll Be Doing: 

This junior cloud engineering position is designed for someone who has Full Stack experience and wants to focus on infrastructure, integration, and engineering within a fast-paced, leading technology services provider. The position will be primarily responsible for collaborating with others on the infrastructure supporting a Continuous Integration (CI)/Continuous Deployment (CD) pipeline, training with community members on an ongoing basis, and participating in external and business development activities as needed. This role is mostly remote with required travel to our office and client locations as needed. 

Required Education, Experience, and Skills: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field
  • 12+ months of relevant experience building, sustaining and deploying production applications in a DevSecOps environment with a CI/CD pipeline
  • 12+ months of experience with a modern programming language
  • 12+ months of experience working daily in a mainstream Cloud Service Provider
  • Production experience writing, maintaining and modifying Terraform or CloudFormation scripts
  • Experience designing, building, and sustaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Infrastructure-as-Code experience with one or more mainstream Cloud Service Providers
  • Experience with modern deployment architectures (containers, service meshes, runtimes, and security)
  • Experience with methods, production, sustainment, and distribution for documentation (Doc-as-code, wikis & markdown, etc.)
  • Enthusiasm and experience with working with teams and providing effective feedback and coaching to individuals and teams
  • Hunger to constantly learn and stay abreast of new CI/CD related technologies and approaches
  • Strong written and verbal presentation and communication skills
  • Experience writing for business (non-technical) purposes
  • Familiarity with Microsoft as a productivity suite (Office & SharePoint)
  • Some travel may be required up to 10%
  • Metro DC travel is expected to support various growth and presentation efforts

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills: 

  • Multiple related industry technical certifications related to these technologies
  • Experience with Linux command line and Bash, and Perl
  • Exposure to CNCF deployment architectures and tools (e.g. Kubernetes)
  • Exposure to AWS implementations of CNCF tools and architectures (e.g. EKS)
  • Exposure to DOD and NIST reference guidance on DevSecOps
  • Understanding of advanced security concepts and metrics around divergence from baseline
  • Experience (lab-based experience okay) with Full Stack app design and implementation in a modern framework
  • Experience in community building and participation
