Job Description

The Human Capital Management (HCM) Operations team at Hearst is responsible for the HCM ecosystem across thousands of employees and 300+ business on a global scale. This is the team that is responsible for the applications and products that service our employees and empower our managers and leaders. Whether supporting day-to-day operations or implementing exciting new products and modules, this team touches all aspects of the employee lifecycle.

Reporting into the Executive Director, Technical Lead, HCM, and partnering closely with the various HCM teams, the Junior Product Specialist will support the full suite of HCM products through a series of 4- to 6-month rotations across the modules the HCM team supports. This includes Core HR, Recruiting, On/Offboarding, Learning, Performance Management, Compensation, Absence Management, and Time & Labor.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Learning the functionality of and interactions between the supported HCM modules through training, shadowing, and end user support.
  • Supporting the primary product owner of each module by testing new features and updates, troubleshooting issues, and answering user questions.
  • Reviewing Oracle product development updates regularly and advising HCM and Corporate HR leadership accordingly.
  • Working with offshore team members to prioritize and resolve issues, which includes managing the ticket queue in ServiceNow.
  • Analyzing issues to determine themes, identify root cause issues, and recommend solutions.
  • Implementing process and training improvements to resolve common issues and elevate the ability of the local human resources teams to respond to end-user questions.
  • Logging and coordinating with Oracle for issue resolution of priority Oracle Service Requests.
  • Working with the training specialist to develop and deploy trainings and material related to the module.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, or related.
  • Strong ability to work effectively in a fast-paced agile environment and manage multiple projects/activities simultaneously.
In accordance with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in New York City. The reasonable estimate, if hired in New York City, is $65,000-$75,000. Please note this information is specific to those hired in New York City. If this role is open to candidates outside of New York City, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location. A final decision on the successful candidate's starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, and education.
