KBR is seeking a Model Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) who will provide direct support to Air Force Material Command (AFMC), Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), and other Air Force and DoD programs and projects by analyzing systems requirements and capabilities to build, deliver, and maintain MBSE models informing system acquisition, sustainment, and support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Apply MBSE methods to perform requirements analysis, requirements definition, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, detailed trade studies, systems integration, verification, validation and interface definition studies of subsystem or system elements.
  • Analyze existing and approved requirements documentation (Capabilities Development Document, System Requirements Document, etc.)
  • Use requirements analysis to create and maintain a Government Reference Architecture (GRA), system specification, and/or representations of the system implementation in an MBSE model
  • Modify and update MBSE models on a regular basis to reflect current acquisition strategies, specific technical sub-categories and define basic missional activities and modeling
  • Produce and deliver MBSE models of the evolving system and assist transitions away from traditional DoD acquisition documents including the Acquisition Strategy Plan, Statement of Work, Systems Engineering Plan, Test and Evaluation Master Plan, and others as needed.
  • Develop system CONOPS, architecture, and interface definitions of complex systems in an MBSE environment
  • Support effective transition of existing systems engineering and technical data packages (TDPs) from traditional document-based processes to reusable model-based artifacts
  • Support management of models and derived work products consistent with project configuration and data management processes and standards.
  • Conduct walkthroughs and formal reviews of system requirements and architecture models developed using MBSE processes
  • Perform detailed technical analyses for a subsystem or system elements
  • Collaborate with systems engineering leads as well as domain and discipline subject matter experts (SMEs) to tailor MBSE modeling efforts to project scope and cost and schedule constraints.
  • Translate processes from traditional document-based system engineering efforts to delivery of model-based work products to customers
  • Train others on MBSE concepts and tools, and provide guidance and recommendations to Government customers in related areas including development and test strategies

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical BS degree in Systems Engineering or another STEM program
  • DoD Clearance Requirement: Ability to gain a Secret and Top Secret/SCI

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBSE Modeling coursework covering system model usage, creation, update, execution, and analysis
  • Experience with MBSE Modeling to develop models of system requirements, architecture/design, and interfaces.
  • Able to synthesize knowledge from multiple domains to apply to new, complicated problems
  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles, development of verification and certification requirements, and understanding the Air Force's acquisition processes preferred
  • Experience applying MBSE methods, tools, and frameworks to develop rigorous specifications and models of commercial and/or DoD systems/components.
  • Demonstrated expertise with using Cameo, MagicDraw, and/or Rhapsody (Cameo preferred) to develop models of system requirements, architecture/design, and interfaces.

In compliance with the U.S. federal government's vaccine mandate, only candidates who are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have a reasonable accommodation or approved medical exception will be considered for this position.
