Job Description
The Flashtalking Software Engineer focuses primarily on developing backend software applications that service the Flashtalking ad server. These are critical applications that help our clients manage their ad campaigns and keep our business up and running and keep us profitable. This role is perfect for an open-minded individual who has a passion for learning.
Responsibilities will include:
- Develop Backend Applications: Build reliable, high-performance, and scalable backend software that forms the backbone of Flashtalking's ad server
- Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with your tech lead to understand business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions
- Create APIs: Design and develop APIs for external clients and internal front-end applications, ensuring seamless integration and functionality
- Maintain Asynchronous Processes: Contribute and maintain features focusing on efficient background workers and other asynchronous tasks using queue systems
Who You Are:
- Proficiency in Java and understanding object-oriented programming principles
- Willingness to learn and work with Kotlin, if not already proficient
- Strong in fundamentals of computer programming, including time and space complexity analysis
- The ability to work independently as well as being an excellent team player
- Excellent ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with the rest of the team
- Familiarity with git, concepts of REST APIs, and relational databases (willing to work with SQL, and understands the basis of an ER diagram)
- Prior experience with Spring Boot, Cypress/Playwright testing, Docker/Containers, Terraform, or AWS resources are a plus
- Flexibility in working with platforms, frameworks, and other languages that may be unfamiliar initially
