THE ROLE: Junior Back End Software Engineer

Rue Gilt Groupe is looking for a Junior Software Engineer (Back-end) to join our expanding Storefront Engineering Team in Dublin, IRE. This person is someone who is inspired to build scalable and sophisticated systems that synthesize data from thousands of brands and millions of consumers, to deliver an engaging real-time experience to users on the go. We're currently modernizing our technical stack and need motivated contributors to drive our technology forward. On the frontend you'll be able to contribute to modern React and Typescript single page applications, running on AWS cloud native architectures that handle problems at scale among 35+ million users.

What You'll Do:

• Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems and services under supervision.
• Write clean code and follow testing practices, participate in code reviews, and learn best practices.
• Support in designing and managing databases, ensuring data integrity and efficient data access.
• Help create and maintain APIs for internal and external use.
• Work closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver cohesive, high-quality solutions.
• Learn and implement security best practices to protect data and applications.
• Assist in producing clear and concise documentation for developed features and systems.
• Learn and support troubleshooting and resolving technical issues with guidance, ensuring minimal downtime and impact on users.
• Learn to optimize applications for speed and scalability.
• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to the continuous improvement of the development process.

• Bachelor’s Degree desired, but not required
• 1-3 years of experience in backend development or relevant internships/projects.
• Basic understanding of backend technologies (Python preferred).
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Exposure to designing and developing GraphQL and RESTful APIs.
• Basic knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Some experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• Understanding of basic security principles and best practices.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced, agile environment.
• A passion for learning and staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies.

Expected Base Salary Range: €40,000 - €50,000

Our goal is to support, reward and compensate the entire individual. Depending on role eligibility, your offer may also include bonus/commission, stock options, 401(k) participation, paid time off, medical, dental, vision and basic life insurance. Therefore, final offer amounts may vary from the amount stated.
