Job Description:

Space Ground System Solutions (SGSS), a Parsons company has an immediate on-site full-time opening for a Junior to Mid-level level, multi-platform, system administrator position supporting a program on a secured DOD client site located in Washington, D.C as well as the Alexandria, VA corporate office.

This role will actively assist the Sr. Administrator(s) with daily operational readiness (tools, people, end-user communications as needed, etc.) to include incident, problem tickets, service requests and change management

tracking/documentation. The System Administrator will be responsible for the maintenance and co-management of computing infrastructure that supports

development and testing of spacecraft systems, including servers, storage, network, workstations as well as all installed software. The individual will also be responsible for assertively assisting with implementing and executing computer and information security plans in accordance with the organization's requirements and standards. Candidates should be comfortable in both Linux/UNIX and Windows server environments, while also capable of supporting end-user scientific workstations. This role will require an innovation mindset that is focused on implementing unique support ideas while actively following best practice for systems management.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Day-to-day system administration, tasking, and prioritization of work in support of DOD project user needs. MUST be self-motivated and able to assertively document and follow-up on customer requests.
  • Responsible for day-to-day system administration of the DOD government programs. Includes but not limited to workstation and server setup, configuration, and Tier 2&3 troubleshooting
  • Responsible for tasking & management of system administrators at both the Alexandria & Florida offices, as well as DOD government location.
  • Management of Red Hat and Ubuntu Linux servers, Windows 10 and Windows Servers, VMWare VSphere installation and administration, and VMWare Workstation deployments, AWS VPC and EC2, Juniper firewalls, Dell Network Switches, Netapp, Dell, and HP SAN storage, MediaWiki and other web-based applications.
  • Provide direct mission support in a classified and unclassified Linux desktop and server environment
  • Support long-term planning and management of infrastructure, including maintenance, upgrades and replacement of obsolete equipment.
  • Collaboratively assist Sr. Administrator(s) and/or system developers to automate tools integration.
  • Researching, as needed, new technologies for all of these environments this includes working with IT management and/or government business leaders to analyze new server requests and deliver allocated server administration tasks within defined timeframes.
  • Responsible for building and deploying large SANS used in a VMware VSphere environments.
  • Responsible (secondary support) for corporate office system administration and maintenance of IT assets on an as needed basis. This is support of supplement government projects with development workstations, servers, and training lab(s).
  • Responsible (secondary support) for system administration at least two other government sites/projects. Tasks may include but will not be limited support of Linux Developers & OPs workstation setup, maintenance, & troubleshooting.
  • Linux & Windows based server deployment and maintenance; Cisco and Juniper switch configuration, Cisco firewall configuration, and VMWare ESXi and VCenter administration.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Active DoD SECRET clearance
  • BS in relevant field (Computer Science/Engineering, Software Engineering) and/or relevant experience
  • Minimum of 5 years' operations experience in an enterprise setting, including demonstrated O&M experience (advanced troubleshooting, preventative patching, system hardening, configuration management, etc.).
  • Minimum of 3 years Linux administration expertise in RHEL 6, 7 & 8 environment to includes full management of installations, configurations and troubleshooting of all aspects of Linux servers
  • Minimum of 2 years' infrastructure and Linux/Unix based application support experience
  • Minimum of 2 years' progressive VMware experience with core knowledge of VSphere, Windows, and MacOS
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities effectively
  • Good understanding of DISA STIG requirements and implementation
  • Knowledge of Data Storage Technologies as NAS or SAN
  • Able to perform planned after hours support in 5-day per week operational environment
  • Minimum of 1 year experience with computer hardware repairs, networking concepts and protocols, Linux & Windows system administrator, Virtualization, VSphere/VSAN, and SAN deployments
  • Good understanding of TCP/IP based networking
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Current TS/SCI
  • Secret clearance, with ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
  • Comprehensive understanding, usage, and implementation of Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Provide Tier 1/Tier 2 support to user community
  • ITILV4 Certification
  • Experience in collection, and communication of user requirements to enhance current and create SOP for system implementations
  • Familiarity with COTS Products: Apache Web Server, Netapp, RedHat Satellite Server, RedHat IDM, Juniper, Fortinet Fortigate, Dell Servers & Switches, VMware VSphere
  • Solid knowledge of AWS EC2 & VPC environments
  • Background in SaaS infrastructure and service development, ideally across a wide range of software, operational and networking environments
  • Proven experience independently researching, planning, presenting, impl menting, and maintaining substantial IT infrastructure solutions

Salary Range:

$68,400.00 - $119,700.00
