Department OverviewOur documentation team offers exceptional support for software and video user documentation, with a dedicated focus on ensuring user-friendliness and accessibility for individuals across various technical backgrounds. We are dedicated to providing exceptional content, including user guides, installation guides, quick reference guides, and troubleshooting resources, that enable our customers to effectively utilize and maximize the capabilities of our products.
Job Description

Technical Writers are expected to follow established writing standards and processes and maintain content development skills and tools through various learning and development programs and skill matrix development. The technical writer is expected to stay informed of changing products, information technologies, and the technical communication industry. Thirst for innovation, multimedia, and technology is a plus.

Additional responsibilities:

• Create, edit, and maintain high-quality and comprehensive documentation.
• Collaborate with US-based product teams to understand project requirements and deliver documentation that meets their needs.
• Work cross-functionally with internal employees (project managers, information architects, media specialists, etc.) and external individuals (subject matter experts) to plan and develop assigned content.
• Write, organize, and streamline content for optimal flow, ensuring it is engaging and easily understood by target users.
• Become proficient with development tools such as Heretto CCMS (DITA XML) and oXygen XML Authoring to produce content.
• Ensure content adheres to Motorola Solutions Writing Standards.
• Continuously develop and enhance content development skills and tools through learning and development programs.
• Stay updated on changing products, information technologies, and the technical communication industry.
• Thrive in a fast-paced Agile work environment.

Basic Requirements

• Ability to write for a highly technical and specialized audience using industry concepts and terminology.

• Experience in technical writing; Bachelor's degree preferred in Technical Communications, English, or Journalism.

• Excellent command of the English language (oral and written) to effectively communicate with stakeholders across different functional areas and levels.

• Strong self-management skills to handle work assignments and meet deadlines.

• Ability to balance multiple projects with competing deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.

• Proficiency in authoring tools and high computer literacy; familiarity with information mapping for technical write-ups is a plus.

• Meticulous attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.

• Comfortable and flexible with remote reporting to US-based management and US-based engineering teams, including working within the US time zone several times a week.
